March 29, 200323 yr I mean, that new Apache AH-64 simulator, by AvtiVision. I have been playing around with it and at least it seems comprehensive in terms of advanced helicopter handling (Fly-By-Wire), being particularly realistic (?) in the autorotation area!!!I can finally autorotate in a sim not being the bugy MSFS or X-Plane!!!Whow!If only they spent some time producing a civilian port of the sim....Check it at:http://www.gamershell.com/news_BApacheAH-6...AssaultBs.shtml
April 1, 200323 yr Hello again!Further to my last post, and following the hint of a portuguese compatriot, I realised there are two additional EXCELLENT products in the market, all distributed by ActiVision, I suppose:1) VIETNAM MEDEVAC2) SAR 4 - COASTAL HEROESBoth have demos available and a level of detail in terms of flight modelling that I was not aware of - certainly way better than any MSFS or even X-Plane helo...
April 2, 200323 yr Thanks for the post - I was unaware of these sims. The SAR4 demo reboots my PC every time I exit a flight - I haven't seen a game that does that (especially to WinXP) in a long time. I sent them a tech support request; we'll see how that goes. (Oh, another thing - I couldn't get my joystick throttle to work.)I'm downloading the Vietnam title now, to see if it does the same thing.Dave Blevins System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
April 3, 200323 yr Dave,I have XP, CH Flightstick & Thrustmaster Rudder Pedals, and the only of the series I was able to get working with the collective on my joystick throttle was the AH-64, because I have the original CD!!!I think the problems reside in the fact of being demos (both SAR4 and MEDEVAC).Regarding the accuracy of the flight models, given the fact that modern helos do have Stability Augmentation Systems, I can perfectly live with the abcense of noticiable torque effects in SAR and Apache, but as a fellow flight simmer (x-plane user and helicopter modeler) pointed out, it is not realistic when it come to the BELL - Huey of MEDEVAC. Varying the collective should really give a good deal of work to your feet....Graphics are astounding in any of the sims.
April 5, 200323 yr I've got vietnam medi-vac - The flight model is outstanding and the game does have some descent moments, but really just flying around in that chopper is NICE!
April 8, 200323 yr I also have some problems with Coastal Heroes rebooting after beginnin on a new mission....really annoying, cause it is truly a funny game to play. I got my joystick to work though, A MS Forcefeedback 2, had to invert the throttle though.------------Fredrik Wold >:-) (Vikings from north)
