May 19, 200323 yr Hey guys, go get the Erickson S-64E Aircrane at WWW.Hovercontrol.com You don't want to miss this one, loads of fun, no pun intended.Stevehttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/10630.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/10631.jpg
May 19, 200323 yr I wonder if he's going to issue a 'fix' to correct the incorrect attitude while hovering (very easy to do), the lack of yaw control and .4 zoom(?) factor ???? The latter two items the user can easily fix with notepad but the the hovering attitude has to be done by the author. I can only hope.Calhover long and prosper
May 19, 200323 yr Got it yesterday. Absolutely amazing. It's so ugly it really does beat the air into submission:-lol Beautifully modelled & a whole heap of fun to fly. The sound file is shattering - as much an assault on the senses as the visual model. I love it!The whole thing's not hard on FPS either. And the two different tanking systems for filling the water tank are very cool. Along with Antti's Dauphin, this is clearly the best addon helicopter Ive seen for fs. I see Cal has pointed out a couple of very minor issues - fair enough, but compared with most freeware packages (not to mention some payware ones), this is fairly bug free.Go get it!LonelyplanetXO:-abduct "Now would be a good time, Scotty"
May 20, 200323 yr Sorry to see you assume the role of victim. In this thread, I simply asked if there would be a 'fix' issued, that's all. I take it there won't be? So be it.As promised in the other thread, I'll not be raising this issue again. I give up.Calhover long and prosper
May 20, 200323 yr Commercial Member Howdy Cal:"I give up."So you're assuming the role of the victim then ;-)Instead of giving up I suggest you work on your communication skills; be assured that your arrogant tone, here and elsewhere, annoys more than just your "target". Maybe re-read your messages, prior to posting (!), assuming that *you* are the recipient.Constructive criticism is wonderful and essential but the emphasis should be on "constructive" and the tone polite.Cheers, Holger
May 21, 200323 yr Hi Holger,Me, a victim? No way! I'd say aggressor is a better description?Lack communications skills? Perhaps. I've never claimed otherwise. Arrogant? I disagree. The presentation of facts is often misconstrued as arrogance when you're annoyed. As for constructive criticism -- you are quite correct but many people consider ANY criticism as an attack. That's why "I give up" was stated. I realize its time I quit doing this. It won't change my opinion -- wrong is still wrong but I'll keep it to myself.And... just for the record, if you check this thread: http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=1234&page=6 you will see I was the first to jump to the defense of Jordan's S300 when someone attacked it.Thanks for your candor Holger -- much appreciated.Cheers,Cal
May 21, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Cal:and thanks for your candor too, Mr. Agressor ;-)Interesting post you referenced. Since I have your attention, and that of other experts too:As you may know, I'm working on the AI helicopters project - probably something a real/sim chopper pilot would respond to with a groan ;-)http://www.yoboworks.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonb...cgi?act=SF;f=35One thing I've been trying to improve on are the visuals of the rotor blades during different levels of power. Since the choppers are bound to the fixed-wing AI engine, power often drops to 0% for the final bit of the approach, which in some choppers (but not in others) leads to a rather leisurly rate of spin; makes one fear for the safety of the AI passengers.I've had some success with editing the prop_anim_ratio parameter but I haven't been able to find any documentation about it that would allow me to use a more systematic approach.Any suggestions or pointers are highly appreciated.Cheers, Holger
May 22, 200323 yr Hi Holger,Sorry, AI is a subject I've largely ignored. I wasn't aware of your involvement but it sounds interesting from a number of posts I've seen on the forums I read. The link you give doesn't work for me, but I'm not "registered".Good luck on the project -- I hope FS2004 is an improvement in that regard and hopefully there is someone else who can help out. Meanwhile, I'm going back to my stuggle with gmax.Cheers,Calhover long and prosper
