FS2004 - Helicopter Landing Gear

Featured Replies

Just in case you had not heard, as we all hoped and expected the landing gear issue has been resolved in FS2004. I have just downloaded and tested it with a Gmax SN61 just released. No pause! RgdsAidihttp://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

That is very interesting, I had heard the opposite elsewhere. Good news though!! I know Al Devins will be thrilled to hear this, it is a huge issue with him (and many of us rotorheads!)Thanks for the info Aidi!Regards, Michaelhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com

HEY, it is a big issue with me :) sorry but I hate waiting about for those bloody things.that is good to hear though, any ideas if theres a new makemdl with the sim? Alan

The heli that i tested it on was a pure gmax heli. Where you have been hearing reports of it not working might have been designed in FSDS. makemdl is not something that i really know much about to be honest Alan.. Point me in the right direction of what i am looking for and i will see what i can find. The other thing that i see they have programmed into the heli flight model is a rotor brake. Its not modelled into the 206, but is in on the R22. Its not as effective as the real thing (from the expeiences i have had when flying front seat of a heli and seeing the brake being applied for rea) but seems to be doing a "sort of" job. I expect it can be changed in a config file or the air file. http://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

AidiYes, the rotorbrake effectiveness can be changed in the aircraft.cfg/Mavwin

Had a look at this in the .cfg, and now having it working more realistic. Just a case of playing with the numbers.cheersAidihttp://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

Aidi - Have you tried either Anti's Dauphin or the Bell222 that were posted here?I was looking at how they implemented the gear settings and I have a strong feeling the Bell will work but the Dauphin will require a rework. But the way the bell tailrotor was done may not work as it didn't completly follow a few of the FS conventions for animation.Richard GreenVATSIM Controller - former AF DRIVER and all around nice guy http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

The Bell 222 works fine in FS2004, and there is a video at www.hovercontrol.com that demonstrates this. Stop by and take a look.Keith

I don't have FS2004 :-( but with regards to the Dauphin, I'd imagine that the gear wouldn't work, however, it should be just a simple matter of editing the panel.cfg and replacing the gear guage with a "normal" one.CheersAlun

Yeah I checked that out....One thing I noticed look at the tail rotor in the video - Someone should be doing an 8G 360 Richard GreenVATSIM Controller - former AF DRIVER and all around nice guy http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

is the 222 tail rotor not spinning?Alan

Some reference was made to this over at hovercontrol, I'm afraid I didn't pay too much attention, but I think it has something to do naming convention... I really can't remember, may be worth having a look over there.CheersAlun

ya i think swedbird was mentioning they changed the name from prop0_still to prop_still0 or something like that. Kind of a stupid change, and it may mean exporting the models again.Ah wellCheers for thatAlan
