October 27, 200619 yr I have not purchased FSX yet.Are stock helicopters there better than FS2004 ones ?I am interested in the flying qualities mainly.Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:hvacc.org]Hellenic vACChttp://vateur.org/staff/vateur_m.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/810309/3.png Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440
October 30, 200619 yr The R22 remains a curiosity. The 206B is improved.Autorotations now work properly.Pedal authority is no longer dependent on collective setting (as in FS2000,2002 & 2004). This is at the expense of almost no torque reaction when collective is increased or decreased. It didn't work properly in previous editions so it's no big loss. The handling has been dumbed down slightly on both The R22 & 206B. In other words, they're easier to hover. I find the 206B to be just a little too sluggish (please...don't use the word STABLE, helicopters are not stable). This can easily be corrected in the Aircraft.cfg file.Other than that, the 206B remains essentially unchanged. I wouldn't base your decision whether to buy FSX on the helicopter. Flying VFR is now a real joy -- that alone makes it worth buying.CalCYXXhttp://members.shaw.ca/hoversafe/Hoversafe.htm
November 6, 200619 yr Well, I'd say something has changed. I tried to instal an add-on helicopter, but I could not get enough power to lift it off the ground. With collective fully lowered, RPM was fine. But raising the collective caused the rotor RPM to drop. I actually managed to blow one engine of that helicopter... smoke comming out and all... The default helicopters of FSX don't give such a problem, but the reason for the problem is noticeable. FSX somehow connects the collective and throttle or something. When lowering collective, there's also a decrease in power. (in the R22 I did turn off the RPM governor and it's the same with the 206B)MarcoNL
