170 ACTUAL Northwest Airlines Flightplans TO/FROM MSP

Recommended Posts

Guest

I spent the better part of the morning monitoring all flightplans filed in and out of KMSP and compiled the list below. These flightplans are the actual plans filed by Northwest's dispatching office and is what the aircraft will be flying. Not all of Northwest's flight in and out of KMSP are included. I started monitoring filing this morning at around 1100Z. I ended at 1500Z. During that time I collected what is shown below. Note that on some of the westbound flights out of MSP, and a few inbound flights from the west coast, you will see place/bearing/distance points in the flightplans. I was curious as to why the flights were filed this way and decided to take a look at the weather over the Rocky Mountain areas. Sure enough, according to national radar coverage and TAFs in the region there are/will be some winter storms passing through the area and the dispatchers have offset the normal routes around the assumed areas of concern. Quite interesting it was. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the list I have come up with. I have also attached a zip which includes a doc with all of the flights listed below should you desire to save these to your computer. If you have any special requests for flightplans in/out of a certain airport (USA only please) I'd be more than happy to compile a list such as this one when I get the spare time to do so. It was rather fun doing this. On to the flights: DEPARTING MINNEAPOLIS/ST. Hi Dan,Thanks for the compilation of flights; looks great! Any way to tell which ones might be Northwest Airlines flights vs. Mesaba flights? And what aircraft(s) are typically used for them?Hey, if you're going to do any more compilations, and since I live in the Pacific Northwest area, I'd really be interested in any flights in/out of KPDX (Portland, Oregon) and in/out of KSEA (Seattle, WA).Best regards,DalatKEUG (Mahlon-Sweet)

Dalat-Doh! I didn't even think to include the airplane type. Since I have the downloadable schedule off the website printed out I didn't even think to include the types. My mistake. It would literally take a couple of hours to update the flights I have posted with the aircraft flown on those flights (not to mention another 4 consecutive hours tracking filed flight plans to get exact types). I think I will just point you in the direction of the schedule and let you determine type for yourself. Remember, all of these flightplans were collected between 1100Z and 1500Z. MSP is GMT -6, so you can figure out what type goes with what flight. Here is the link to the downloadable schedule:http://www.nwa.com/travel/timetable/effective_102702.pdfI'll remember to include a/c types next time I compile a list such as this, and to specifically list weather or not it's flown by a partner. As far as KPDX or KSEA goes, any particular airline that you are interested in? Or would you just like a general dose of everything? Regards,Dan Zollnerhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

Now there's a great reply: "Doh!" :-) I got a good laugh out of that because we watch the Simpsons so much around here and it's good to see that I'm not the only engaged in Homer Simpson hero-worship. Can you imagine Homer as a Dispatcher!!Anyway, on to the subject at hand. I'll check the link you provided and get the info from there. As for favorite airlines, I think my most favorite American company is Alaska Airlines because their crews always seemed to have such a great sense of humor (like the pilot who, on a flight from Spokane to San Francisco, kept telling jokes over the PA system, hilarious ones, too). But, I think a general dose of airlines and destinations would be great. If you can find a few Alaska Airline flights to Anchorage and/or Juneau, that'd be cool. Does Alaska Airlines fly to Mexico? I think there's supposed to be a few international flights out of Portland, not just to Canada but possibly to Korea (I think Korean Airlines, or was it Asiana?, just started up a link b/w Seoul and Portland; all I know is that is wasn't Aeroflot). Seattle, for sure, has a lot of international flights arriving/departing there. I think Portland (like Spokane) is called an "international" airport because of flights to Canada....I know, I sometimes think of them as domestic flights (my apologies to all Canadian AVSIM users)....but KPDX might be getting a bit more cosmopolitan in their outlook. What a concept!Whatever you put together I'm sure will be excellent. And thanks in advance for all your hard work on this. I, and others, greatly appreciate it.Best regards from rainy/stormy Eugene, ORDalatKEUG

Dalat-You got it! As I have some spare time later this afternoon I'll start keeping an eye out on plans filed in/out of PDX for you. I'll be sure to keep a sharp eye out for any AK flights. Yes they do fly to Mexico, I'm just not sure if they do so out of PDX. I'd think they only fly there from SEA or SFO. I don't know much about AK, but this will probably be a learning experience for me in that regard. I'll see what I can come up with later this afternoon and post the results tonight. Regards,Dan Zollner
