March 24, 200323 yr HiI am looking for Flightplans from Spain (like Malaga/Mallorca/Barcelona) to Gran Canaria (GCLP)Thank YouFloris
March 24, 200323 yr Hi,Here the requested routes...LEMG-GCLP B734/MN0424F370 SVL UN857 TERTOLEPA-GCLP B734/MN0430F330 BRUNO UN851 MGA UN869 RUSIKLEBL-GCLP B734/MN0427F350 EBROX UM985 MGA UN869 RUSIKCiao,FlyerNL
March 24, 200323 yr I have flown a good bit up untill now, ( in simulaters of course ) But I have neaver seen anything like this!! It looks amazing! Would you, or anyone for that matter, have the time to explain all this? Maybe even how to make my own?!I own a Copy of Fly! II so I think I sould be able to make use of a Flight plan, such as the one above, But I can't make heads or Tails of it.Many thanks!
March 24, 200323 yr Hi 'Spenik'If we take the first routing,LEMG-GCLP B734/MN0424F370 SVL UN857 TERTOLEMG & GCLP are the ICAO codes for the departure and arrival airports, in this case Malaga and Gran Canaria.B734 is the aircraft type, in this case a 737-400.The '/M' is the wake turbulence category, in this case 'medium'.The 'N0424' is the TAS (true airspeed) of said flight and the F370 the planned cruise level, in this case FL370. This is not neccessarily the level the plane will cruise at however. The 'SVL UN857 TERTO' is the routing. You would follow a Seville (SVL) departure procedure (SID) from Malaga towards the Seville VOR (SVL), then join the UN857 airway as far as TERTO, which is an intersection (a specific point of latitude and longtitude which is given a name, in this case TERTO). From TERTO, the arrival procedure into Gran Canaria begins.HTH;)
March 25, 200323 yr Hey! It's amazing how it all sems to make sense after someone explains it. One lasy question, well two. What is FL370 in ft.? I once thought that it just ment 37,000 ft., but I am not sure...And How do you, determin an intended criuse alt.? I Tried A few flight2 from ANC to FAI in a King air B200 and I criused at 35,000ft. Was that right? All I knew then was that I could cruise at 320 TAS and that had to be the only way to travel long distances. If Clearence delivery gave me an alt. that was in a cloud layer, I would just ask for a Higher alt. Would I be able to Make such in flight changes to a flight plan mid-flight without seriously afecting my ETA? Not that it matters that much, but it's nice to know what the efects of a change in flight equate to.Thanks Again!P.S: I have just finished trigonomitry in school and it's still fresh in my mind. Is it posible, or feasible, to triangulate my position using an VOR and NDB? Should I realy have my atention diverted from the airplane that long?
March 25, 200323 yr FL370 is a term used to describe 37000ft when you have standard pressure 1013mb/29.92 inches set above transition altitude which varies from country to country and even region to region. In America the TA is 18000ft, so until 18000ft you fly on the local presurre setting ie the air pressure at your departure airfield. If you are still not sure what I mean, open up FS and change the pressure settings - you'll notice the altimeter creep up and down as you change. In non-US parts of the world the air pressure is quoted in millibars, and is called the QNH. The QNH, when set will make you're altimeter read you're chosen aerodrome elevation when you are on the ground at that aerodrome. In other parts of the world like Russia and China, they quote air pressure in QFE, which will mean you're altimeter will read 0 ft when at you're chosen airfield.Essentially when you hear QFE you should associate with height above ground level, QNH with height above a standardised world wide average sea level. You're cruise alt will largely depend on the weight of you're aircraft, the general rule is the heavier you are, the lower you expect to cruise at. Although you may not always get to cruise at you're most economical crusing level due to factors such as other traffic, weather (as you point out) etc. I have no idea about King Air aircraft so I can't help you there :-).Changes in cruise alt will not significantly affect you're ETA.HTH:-)
March 26, 200323 yr Hey! I will be an expert in no time! Now, lets say I wanted to plan a rout from, say my original example, ANC to FAI. how would I go about doning that? Thanks again!
