July 8, 200322 yr I know this will be a long shot, but I have just seen Concorde fly overhead on approach to Heathrow. Having seen BA002 at 5:30pm, and with BA001 not due to take off for at a few minutes, I knew this was something unusual. From my scanner, this appears to have been callsign BA9151. On landing it was directed straight to the maintenance area.Anyone got any details on where it came from or where it went? Thanks,Kevin
July 8, 200322 yr Yes, it was G-BOAF's test flight before it returns to service on the BGI run. Flight was SL2/SM out to 30West, SN/SL3 return to EGLL, landing at 2130z. Andy
July 8, 200322 yr Andy, thanks for the prompt response. Two questions and one observation.Que 1. What does BGI stand for. I am sure it is obvious, but I can't think what it is?Obs. If it was due to land at 2130z, it was a little early at 1800z.Que 2. Remind me. Has G-BOAF been in service since all the mods were done?Regards,Kevin.
July 8, 200322 yr Hi KevinBGI = BarbadosI assume you are referring to this afternoon (Tues)? I also heard and saw it taking off, must have been about 3pm ish? I'm sure Andy will confirm that this was also on it's way to 30W and back.
July 8, 200322 yr Sorry - I thought I was answering a post that was submitted yesterday evening! ;-)Yes Alpha Fox has now completed two test flights, both flying out into the North Atlantic and returning to LHR. The other aircraft in the fleet were undergoing S checks when BA received the news that Airbus was pulling out. They completed work on OAG and OAD, then OAE/OAC. There didn't really seem much point putting OAF though this 'service', so instead, BA have done what work they need to in order for it to fly down to Barbados (BGI) a few times this summer. I would imagine OAF will also fly a few 'Round The Bay' flights, which have also now been given the go-ahead for September.Andy
