November 4, 200421 yr Hi guys,I've just used the routefinder site http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ to get a plan for Boeing field to Heathrow but it didn't use any north atlantic tracks I think it routed me over greenland and iceland. Does this seem right or do you think that the route should be directly across over Canada then NATs to Ireland or Scotland and finally into England? Here's the route it gives:KBFI DCT SEA J505 MEETO J540 YFB 5E72 KEF G3 MY G11 SIDER UM125 SUM UN584 BAMRA UM87 FINDO UN610 NEW UP18 POL UY98 BARTN UN615 HON STAR EGLLAny help is appreciated, this is my first post on this forum.
November 4, 200421 yr This routing is not surprising for Western parts of the US. Flights from Seattle, San Fran and LA normally fly the "great circle" route which yours is. NAT tracks are very rarely used by flights for the eastern US due to the milage to get to the tracks and that when flying the "great circle" routes the winds are normally more in your favour.
November 4, 200421 yr Sounds reasonable, thanks Ian.The thing that confused me is that I flew KSFO to London and it gave me a route using NATS. But I suppose that because SFO is further south of BFI.Thanks anyway I just wanted to double check, pretty useful forum you guys are having here, I'll drop by more often!
