Epic D, Multi PC and FS2k2..

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,I am playing with an EPIC Rev D at the moment.I have donr this:PC1 is my FS2K2 PC with FSUPIC, WideServer and EpicInfo installed.PC2 has the EPIC card in it, wideclient and EPIC95.vxd running.Wideclient and Wideserver are talking using IPX. It is working fine. But epicinfo keeps bombing out with an EPIC95 not found error.Do I /have/ to have the epic card installed in my FS2K2 machine? Any tips or guidence would be apprecated!

So you do not need a Epic card in the each machine to run EpicLink?I read the docs, but didn't try it because I thought each PC would need a card.Which PC did you have as the server, and which as the client?Cheers!Stuart.

The PC with the EPIC card was just an old clunker P-II 300Mhz with an available ISA slot, connected via an IPX network to the Main sim system running EPICLink. My main sim system is a 1.3Ghz AMD Athlon. On this system you run an executable which makes it *look* like an EPIC is installed, but you only need one EPIC in the entire setup.

I have tried running Epiclink, with no luck.I run EpicServer on the machine with the Card, and it finds the card okay and starts up.I run up Epicclient on my FS2K2 machine, it logs 'No epic.vxd found' (it is installed, but under Win98 all the 'epic joysticks' read not connected, as there is no epic card in the system) and then it just sits there.I tried putting:[Config]Log=All[include]PH=ALLQP=ALLNQ=ALLin both my server and client ini files. I get a message saying that the client has connected to the sever, then nothing.I start up Flight Sim, and EpicInfo says it is up and running, but none of my Pigeon holed stuff gets sent to the server.Nothing appears in the logs...Can you advise any further?

I think you have to load the EPL files on the client, as the Client emulator behaves as an EPIC card, it needs to be loaded I thiknk as well.Don't quote me on that though.. it's been a long time since I've used EPICLink.Ray
