EPIC + real panels

Featured Replies

Hi,I have several avionic panels and keypads that I want to intergrate with the EPIC card. Before I start though I want to make sure I am clear on something.I have the EMDA card that I will be doing all the wiring to/from. Two of the panels I've got have more buttons than wiring connections. Therefore, some wires are used mutliple times. For instance, one panel has 15 wiring connections and 30 buttons. Two of the wires are for backlighing, so that leaves 13 wires for button connections. Hope that makes sense. Wires 1 through 8 are used with wires 10 through 14. Like this...1-101-111-121-131-14then...2-102-11etc.So, wires 1-8 are used once each with wires 10-14. On the EMDA card, you can put 8 wiring connections per one module connection. So, what I think I will have to do is split off wires 1-8 four times and run them to the EMDA card in four groups. That way, on one row I would have wires 1-8 and wire 10 in module 0, wires 1-8 and wire 11 in module 1, and so on. I know that may be hard to picture and my explanation it probably lacking, but can anyone tell if I am thinking about this right and if it will work? Thanks!Dave

I'd just get another EMDA card.. that will solve the problem. You are allowed 16 groups of 8 switches alone on a module, so that should be enough, unless I'm missing something.

If that's the case, I am set as I already have two EMDA cards! Thanks!
