Some questions about EPIC USB....

Featured Replies

Hi!I have recently got the EPIC USB and I am a total newbie. I installed EPIC USB correctly and attached the exapnsion board, the ABA module and a 64BTN module to it. Ok, then I thought that it would be nice to wire one simple microswitch to the 64BTN module. Ok, I mounted one end of the microswitch's cable to one commun contact and the other end to the 32 screw. Ok. then I started Epiccenter. Epiccenter identified my EPIC as USB 0. Then I went to the EpicInfo dialog and thought that there, under buttons, I would see anything when I press a button, and so I can define which Module/Row/Bit my button has. But nothing happened. Ok, so my question generally is: What do I have to do to see where my buttons are (M/R/:(? It's really disappointing that there is NO manual for EPICCenter. And I think it would be worth to have something like this. I really don't know where to begin, what my first steps with the EPIC system should be. I have all manuals for the syntax, but basic setups are only described for the ISA version.... please help me!!! thanks in advance! :-)regards,SteveEPICCenter v.0.1.1.50EPIC Checksum C347PS.: Sorry for my bad english...

Not to worry...Because there's no EPL code in your project, your buttons won't show up yet, which I think should be considered a bug, because you should at least be able to see the physical hardware attatched to the EPIC card.I'm not at my sim right now, but when I get home I'll try to whip up a quick and dirty EPL project so you can test buttons.

Hi!Thanks a lot! I also find it strange that when I go to the EPICInfo dialog there I says that my EPIC USB runs @ 0Mhz. Maybe I have to load an EPROM...Regards,Steve PS.: And when I try to load an EPL like:define FASTSCAN 0definemodule(0,FASTSCAN,0,7)Epiccenter hangs up when there comes the progress window...

Also true.. you won't see any Mhz until you LOAD the card. At that point the EEPROM should auto-detect the card speed. Not sure about EPICenter freezing.. sounds like an old problem that may have come back... Are you running Windows XP Home or Pro? There were some nasty issues with that OS back in the .4X days...I hope they haven't resurfaced!Ray

Hi!Yes, I am running WIN XP Pro. Now I've tried to update the EPROM to checksum CFDF for Epiccenter 0.1.1.50. The updating worked, but then, when I try to restart EPICCenter nothing happens...until I unplug the USB and then it says that it cant determine the speed of the device (somethin like that). Ok, then Epiccenter continue to start and says EPICUSB0 found though I have the USB disconnected.Meanwhile I reconnected USB again. Then I went to the Load EPROM dialog and loaded the bin file with checksum C347. And now everything is working (that means: I can start Epiccenter, and in the EpicInfo dialog there is still indicated, that my card is running @ 0Mhz, I havent tried to load anything to the card yet!) So, it is impossible to run EPICCenter with EPROM checksum CFDF because it won't start on my system....I am really thankful for your answer since there is really a lack of information on the EPIC stuff...Steve
