Falcon4 shared memory error

Featured Replies

When I access Falcon4 shared memory I get a "Unhandled Exception in 0xC0000005: Access Violation" error. Anyone know how to fix this?I'm using Windows XP and I use to be able to use the shared memory.

I found my error. I had a read statement that under Windows XP must be a write statement.

I have *just* bought an EPIC and plan on primarily using it with Falcon. Just looking at it for a few minutes and I am overwhelmed. Can you forward anything you come up with in this particular area? After a just a few minutes around here, I assume you're trying to get info from the program to either a) light something or :( decide if a switch should do something different. Am I close?

Note: my big reason for asking is that I am seriously considering returning the EPIC and going with the Hagstrom (which is a WHOLE lot simpler). My thoughts are the power of the EPIC won't do me much good for just sending keystrokes. However, if something can be read from the program (Falcon), sticking with the EPIC makes more sense.

The good thing about the EPIC is it will send keystrokes and it can light LEDs and 12volt lamps based on events in Falcon4. With the USB EPIC, you don't even have to connect the EPIC to the keyboard connector. If you stay with the EPIC, you can follow in my foot steps (so to speak) by using the code I develope and modifying it to suit your needs. I've attached a version of my code, like everyone, it's a work in progress. This version has working buttons but I'm still working on the lights.Actually, coding the switches is not hard if you're confortable with coding. If you want to save yourself some pain, you need to spend a lot of time documenting your switches and connectors so you can trace errors. I also attached my cable trace file (it's an excel spreadsheet), with it I can tract from the switch to the Falcon function if controles. Last, I use connectors on my switch panels (I use AGT panels) and I use the ABA and 64BTN modules to make interfacing the switches super-easy (although a lot more expensive): Micro Cockpit sells the ABA and 64BTN. http://www.fsim.com/default.htmlLet me know if I can be of further help.JAM01, XO99th VFS

Also, if you've loaded EPICCenter, tell me what version you have. It may be worth it to upgrade to latest software version since some versions had problems.

I haven't even unpacked it all the way yet... I'm still trying to envisions a way to hookup the diodes and protect them at teh same time. I can't get anything to display on the site you mention above in regards the ABA. (I can get slide shows of Mirages though *grin*)

On the left side of the screen you should see a menu item for EPIC. You should be able to follow that link to information on the ABA and 64BTN. The reason I like this setup is because with them you don't need diodes for your switches.Send me your email and I'll send you some of the data I have if you're interested.JAM01

Those items look perfect for someone of my soldering capabilities! *grin* Now if they ship to the states... I've emailed them.

They will, but they have to ge permission first (almost automatic).
