Phantom EPIC events...

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem:EPIC USB EEPROM v5.05, 0x9647Problem: Phantom events in FS2K4Whenever I rotate any of my rotaries, I get the desired results, and a bonus: It also activates other systems: (Yours may vary, if you are having a similar issue)Tuning the COM panel lower digits, the gear cycles as wellTuning the Transponder increment the flaps setting.Setting the MCP ALT Hold value will toggle the Marker Audio SignalSetting the MCP V/S will raise/lower the flaps.----------------------------------------------------- What's even more interesting is that none of these phantom events are defined in the FS9.CFG file.I am using FSUIPC 3.06, latest version of EPICInfo.DLL, and latest WideFS.If any of you have experienced this behavior and fixed it, I'd love to know how you did it.Best Regards~

Got it....After a few minutes chatting with Ralph, got the phantom events sorted out. It seems that if you tell Windows XP (OR any other OS?) that there are more DirectInput devices than are actually sending events to DirectInput. that FS2Kx will generate it's own interpretation of events.eg: I had 8 devices configured and sent to Windows. However, only 3 actually 'did' anything via DirectInput (Joystick axis & buttons). The remaining 5 were for internal use such as Display devices and rotary devices which talk directly to EPICInfo.DLL.After telling Windows only 3 devices were necessary, all was well. #pragma hid_rpt_snd 3...the above line, and a few other minor mods did the trick

Hi Ray,Does this pragma line result in hiding these devices from windows in the "game controllers" ?I see you found a workaround for it but just for the record, I have faced the same problem and resolved it a bit differently:The definition of a rotary device actually creates a new game controller in Windows. Buttons are defined under that device to accomodate each rotary (detent detection and direction). After adding this board, using rotary 03 in a specific direction caused the button 8 to flicker on and off. Adding this device caused MSFS to apply all default buttons and default behavior of button 8 is gear toggle ! I simply removed all button assignments for that joystick in MSFS and all is well now.Cheers, Yves
