10 Mile Visibilty to Zero at 150FT

Recommended Posts

Just ran ActiveSky wxRE for the first time, and I think it as an absolutely program! Great Job! However I seem to have done something wrong setting it up. I took off from KJQF with current metars, after setting up Active Sky as best I could. While on the ground I had fairly good visibility more than ten miles with overcast skies. Right after takeoff It was like I flew into a cloud at 150ft AGL. Needless to say it was an invisible cloud until I was inside of it(pilots last words). Do you have any knowledge of how this comes to happen, if so can you please advise what I need to do to correct. Oh and it was raining quite hard so I thought it my be caused by the reduce visibility in rain checkbox, that didn't help. Thanks in advance,Wyatt

Try this: In Options see what your "Cloud Transition Interval is set to. Lower it a bit and see what happens. Also, on every fresh start of FS give the progs. a little time to interact with each other. A lot happens between the two in that first minute or so.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Thanks, that helped... also I did some more tweaking elsewhere and managed to overcome this.
