Possible Cure for Stuttering Updates!

Featured Replies

For anyone having serious problems with FS2002 stuttering during live METAR updates, I may have the solution, especially if you're running WinXP Pro. I use a seperate firewall program (BlackIce) and discovered that I also had the WinXP built-in Firewall protection enabled. After I disabled the WinXP firewall, the stuttering went away completely! Nothing but smooth transitions now! Hope this helps someone, especially if you're running a seperate Firewall and WinXP.Take care and don't forget the landing gear!

For some odd reason Microsoft decided to make the built-in firewall as obscure as possible. To disable the firewall do the following:(1) Click on Start/Control Panel/Network and Internet Connections(2) Click on Network Connections(3) You should then see your internet network connection or LAN connection icon in the right-hand panel.(4) Either select the icon and and then click "Change settings for this connection" in the Network Tasks pane OR Right click on the connection icon and select Properties(5) Select the Advanced tab of the Properties box(6) Uncheck the box titled "Internet Connection Firewall"By default the Windows XP firewall is enabled at installation and if you're running another firewall there tends to be conflicts.

Thanks!Mine was disabled so I guess that is not responsible. My dsl provider has a built in firewall-perhaps that is the source of the occasional stutter. Not a big deal.http://members.telocity.com/~geof43/Geofdog2.jpg

What version of AdvDisp are you using?

I'm generally not using it -but 1.9.6.4 is the version.OK, the current version is 1.97. Apparently the earlier versions caused stutters for some users.
