ActiveskywxRE and FsSkyWorld Random Sky

Featured Replies

I read thru the manual about there being potential problems when runing ActiveSkywxRE and FsSkyWorld Random sky selection, however, I have successfully use these options together ever since ActiveSkywxRE was released and have never seen any problems at all....The weather outside was just as it was in real life..Living here in Boise Idaho, one may expect to see constant weather changes in a giving day..All I can say is that ActiveskywxRE has made the simulation even better when choosing the random selection from FsSkyWorld...The rain, clouds, wind, and snow are much more realistic and I am very pleasedNow, if there was to be some potential problem that I should have experienced, then what may they be? For some reason I'm just not seeing any.Well, thats it for now. Maybe someone can share some light on what it is I might be missing..Cheers :-beerchug Troy

This is what Chris Willis was posting this evening on his forum:Hi, If you activate auto install with 3rd party generator, change the setting in the cloud.ini. Auto install will works on all 3rd party generator with no interaction to corrupt the information from the 3rd party generator. In your cloud.ini, set RefreshCloud=on to off [AutoRefresh] RefreshCloud=on <------------------- off WaitTimeAfterClear=20 IncTime=15 DecTime=15 The cloud set will change when the 3rd party generator metar weather will be updated. auto install works 100% with all 3rd party weather generator. If you have frame hit with the clouds density slider at 100%, set this to 75% or 65%. fs sky world se If you don't Activate Auto Install feature: #1 Select your Cumulus Set, press Install buttons #2 Select your Cb/Storm Set , press Install buttons #3 Select your High/Mid level Set, press Install buttons #4 Start Fs2002 by your default fs2k2 Icons Chris

Remember that Random Install is different than Auto Install. Random is good because once those cloud packs are loaded they will remain the same throughout your FS flight. Auto Install might not be so good because totally new cloud packs are installed during your flight.

This is very usefull information guys..Now I'm confuse as to which of the two options I should use..i.e., Auto install VS Random. Nonetheless, but resources are very helpful..Thanks againTroy

you should use the random feature: make sure cloudrefresh is turned off in your clouds.ini and you better deselect updating on new meatr station in your WXre options.instead, take a time interval of 5 minutes.then select in FSSKY all clouds you want to be installed, you can have them random installed or in line.random will create a niceer effect IMHO,because you will a more variety of clouds.then set the interval in FSSKy to as close to 5 minutes possible (4,9) or something, but in any case less than 5 minutes if you have set up a time interval of 5 minutes in WXRE.now, after 4,9 minutes,FSW will load three new sets of clouds (cumulus,high-mid,thunderstorm) and at 5 minutes,WXre will update weather with those last textures.hope this helps
