Hi all, v1.8 release candidate 3 is readyChanges in RC3:- Reduced size of options screen slightly for those in 800x600 res- Fixed problem with voice playback of flightwatch winds direction- Fixed aloft temperature problem when reported as missing (0/null)- Fixed offline aloft problem with searching for proper station IDs (would sometimes get confused with altitude data)If you'd like to test, please backup all previous versions of wxRE then install this update on top of your installation:http://www.hifisim.com/wxre18updaterc3.zipIf all goes well with this RC we'll make it the official 1.8 and release it by the end of the week. >Hi all, v1.8 release candidate 3 is readyI don't know whether the timing was coincidental or not, Damien, but after installing C3 I was unable to d/l from the WX server. On reverting back to C2, the d/ls resumed as usual.Would there be anything interfering with d/ls after installing the C3. All .ini files were saved. Thanks,Ron McLeod CYEG

Hi Ron,Hmmm, I notice no problems online or offline here.. which mode gave you problems?-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Basically, it reported not being able to access the server at this time. Switch to offline mode and try again...and something along the lines of 'should be corrected soon"... Similary to the last server difficulties. However; I'll give it another go tomorrow and see if my server d/l timing was just bad. Thanks,Ron McLeod CYEG

Damian,I am not sure if this problem is new to RC3, but something strange is happening when you take off and land within the Force Range in Online mode I did a short flight between EGKK and EGGW (43 nm apart), the Force range is the default 60 nm.ActiveSky seemed to be permanently redownloading weather throughout the flight.I guess it should realy just download the weather once and not download again at all during the flight?(I have the "Disable All Wx Updates When Forced" and "Disable Forced Wind Updates" Option ticked)RegardsBarry

Hi Barry,What I suspect happened is that wxRE was busy re-setting its weather after you updated the custom/dest id and force checkbox... If its the first time you are entering a cust/dest, certain arrival weather information must be 'simulated' through the processor in order to decode it and store it for flightwatch / atis and/or Radar Contact use. So updates are occuring here and it may seem redundant but it is required to get everything initialized correctly.I suggest waiting until all updates complete after entering the dest ID and checking the FORCE box. At this point wxRE should stop updating with the "disable update" options you have enabled. Let me know if that does the trick! Thanks..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

>Hi Ron,>>Hmmm, I notice no problems online or offline here.. which mode>gave you problems?>>-DamianI believe I just happen to install and start the program at a time the server was down. Re-installing it today would not overright but gave me the three choices of removing, modifying, repair. I used modify and the install went fine and asked for access through the software firewall which I did not get the first attempt. It works fine now, but I cannot see any indication that its C3, other than noting the date of the wxRE file is dated 4.29.03 and that's close enough for me. :-kewlRon McLeod CYEG

Hi Damian,Yes you are right, I tend to start FS up, then ActiveSky and enter my destination and force straight away. Normally things sort themselves out eventually, but this doesn't happen when you depart within the force distance (it cycles between updating Aloft Winds and Additional Winds). If you wait for the first update to complete and then enter the destination and force, all appears to work OK.RegardsBarry

Hi DamianI have installed 1.8RC3 and have just finished flying over Sweden, Germany and France.I downloaded a new set of weather files with absolutely no problem and flew offline. There is a feeling of stability, more so that I had with this, compared with earlier versions.I am delighted that the temperatures are better in display than earlier RC versions. I did find that winds aloft wind speeds and temperatures display at about half of what is showing on the wxRE data. As an example LFSD and WMO ID:16080 gave 220/96/-44 and on display it was showing 218/50/-26I personally do not find it a problem as I simply enjoy the variety of weather that your program provides. The wind direction remained true as to the data.Once again, well done and many thanks for all your work.CheersMike
