December 26, 200322 yr Let me start by saying I am thoroghly enjoying this product. Great Job guys. Anyway, I was wondering is it possible to get the average wind speed from AS2004 without doing it manually?I use FSBuild 2 for flight planning and the "Average Wind Speed" is used in the fuel calculations.
December 27, 200322 yr Let me be the first to request to include it in an upcoming update. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks Jim!
December 27, 200322 yr :-lol - if only we could do that in real life :-). Get a bunch of station reports and then do the calcs manually from that. That will give you a pretty good idea as to what to plan for (then add 30 minutes :-) ).
December 27, 200322 yr Why not just let Fsbuild2 automatically incorporate the winds aloft data from AS into your Flight plan fuel calcs ?Regards.Ernie.
December 27, 200322 yr In FSB2 in the Options folder and the settings tab I have ActiveSky2004 selected. It does give me the winds aloft data when I press "Build" but I thought I had to fill in all the info in the Aircraft folder like Average wind speed, Payload, Empty Weight BEFORE I press Build. Is it possible I have the procedure wrong for creating a flight plan with a program like ActiveSky?
December 27, 200322 yr If you have FSbuild setup to use the ActiveSky winds aloft, then when you print the FSbuild Flight Plan, it will display the average wind change in Plus or Minus format. I have a FP that shows an AVG W/C of P046 this means an average tail wind of 46 Knots.Minus would mean a headwind.
December 27, 200322 yr If you fill in the ,avg route winds' box on the Fsbuild2 Aircraft page, you basically are telling Fsbuild to use that average winds value you entered manually instead of allowing Fsbuild to automatically use the AS2004 winds aloft data. You need to keep the 'avg rte winds' box empty (which it is by default) if you want Fsbuild to automatically use the AS2004 winds.Regards.Ernie.
