February 2, 200422 yr Hey there.Yesterday, during my first visit in Athens, LGAV I noticed the following. When approaching (at around 20nm inbound LGAV) a new weather would load every 20-30 secs. Even after landing and while taxiing to the gate, the weather kept changing continuously. And the weirdest was in the end when the aircraft was parked and still and the weather was still doing its thing. And when I say weather I mean clouds and wind direction mainly.I took a look at the AS2004 window and realised that the METAR report was changing between LGAV, LGEL (10nm W of LGAV), LGBL (80nm N of LGAV(!)), and LGAD (80nm W of LGAV(!)) even when my aircraft was parked at the gate. Some kind of confusion between the stations?I'm flying offline using downloaded weather with Global Writes ON and TAF processing OFF and I have added LGAV in my airports and weather stations lists. Thanks in advance,Kostis
February 2, 200422 yr Commercial Member Good Afternoon,Just from curiosity how did you add the LGAV Station? The changes you show is maybe beacuse LGAV station is not yet active in the server.Just a thoughtChris Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com
February 2, 200422 yr Hi Chris,A few weeks ago we went through how to add a station to the program. Yes, then Damian added the station on the server end. I'm not really sure why all this happened. Kostis, can you try some more flights and report back?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 4, 200422 yr Chris: I edited the airport list and weather stations text files but for a new entry to be valid, the station must be present in the server too.Jim: Thanks for your reply. I have made two flights to LGAV since my first message. When I depart from LGAV the weather is more stable (although I still get a METAR report from a different station). When I arrive, the same thing is happening, i.e. weather changing every 10 seconds using METAR reports from LGBL, LGEL, LGAD and LGAT but no LGAV. Actually, although the report for LGAV appears on the AS2004 window, I get a message that there are errors in report - skiping station. But even if the report for LGAV is erroneous, whouldn't the weather load with different data and stay there?I have double checked LGAV's coordinates in the two text files and they're OK. I was wondering if there has to be some kind of exact agreement between server data and those. Any ideas?
February 4, 200422 yr No, this is something for Damian to look at.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
