Where is the turbulence i have not yet experienced it?

Featured Replies

I;m flying the PMDG aircraft and have never experienced it yet why?I must say activesky is amazing but why is turbulence not modeled?

Hi,It is, but smoothed out to counter the wind shift situation in FS. It is still around in heavy cloud/storm situations.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Thanks Jim i'll fly somewhere with bad weather to try it. But why not model some periodic turbulence (air pockets) at flight level above 220??

I think people were complaining about wind shifts which cause drastic attitude change/overstress. A gentle turbulence option would be reasonable, something along the lines of "light" or "moderate" turbulence in the FS weather menu. Unfortunately, FSUIPC's turbulence addition function is 1) too weak 2) too rare 3) incompatible with wind smoothing.

>I;m flying the PMDG aircraft and have never experienced it>yet why?>I must say activesky is amazing but why is turbulence not>modeled?Hi. I fly the PMDG NG and I can guarantee you that it suffers from turbulence. You have to tick the option in AS that enhances Cumulus activity. Can't remember what it is called excactly (I'm at work now), but look for it in the AS options menu. It's not hard to find.On a side note, I must say that AS's wake turbulence simulation is very convincing. I would certainly wish that AS could find time to implement a wind shear/CAT simulation also. Modern aircraft (e.g. the 777) are equipped with a predictive wind shear warning system that uses wind velocity data gathered by the weather radar system to identify the existence of wind shear. It issues alerts; a CAUTION and a WARNING. When a caution alert is detected during take off or approach an aural alert, MONITOR RADAR DISPLAY, is announced. But when the warning alert is detected before take off the aural alert WIND SHEAR AHEAD is announced. I'm not sure if it issues warnings for CAT also, but wind shear at least could be a nice feature to have in AS. Especially since sim aircraft design actually allows for the implementation of advanced weather radar systems at this moment. Just look at Reality XP's Wx500 :-)Regards,Sebastian
