Crazy Winds Aloft Shifting

Featured Replies

Just a few minutes ago I finished a pathetic flight, partly my fault, in the PMDG 737. It was from KPHX to KSLC at FL310. Somewhere just north of BCE my winds aloft started winding down to 0, then back up to approximately 240/80, then back down to nothing, over and over. The plane was just sliping back and forth. Drove me crazy, so I dropped to FL260. It didn't really stop right away either. What was this all about? Also during my descent into KSLC the weather was supposed to be snow below 800 foot ceiling and 1SM visibility. The clouds appeared but visibility was 4SM and it didn't start snowing until touchdown.I'm using the latest build, 174. Don't know why the .ini file says 172.//AS2004.5 configuration file B172 [General]WindowPosX = 5055WindowPosY = 3690DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 4000SurfaceWindLimit = 5CloudLayerLimit = 3LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 1MaximumVisibility = 59IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = TrueDisableAllGroundUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = TrueGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = FalseFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = TrueLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 60VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -7AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEThanks,

Hi,Not sure about the winds. The weather could have been influenced by the near-by stations. Hit the save settings button and see if the build number changes to B174.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
