Engine stopping at idle

Featured Replies

I was in a multiplay host yesterday with three other,s we all started our engines then our engines just stopped excepet for 1 so we started them again a few seconds later they stopped .Three of us using ASV5 and SU2 and the other using FS weather he had no problems so we turned of ASV problem gone and it didnt matter what aircraft we tried we even reset out fsuipc...the engines would stop if we had them at idle if we incresed them to 1000rpm they would keep running.. anyone else had this problem pls help..

Was your mixture at full rich?Where were you (what airport)? Is it a high altitude airport where you'd have to lean out the engine a bit to keep it running?Just a few of my ideas.Just an opinion from a real world pilot, most piston aircraft are run at 1000rpm during ground operations to allow the engine to reach operating temperature, keep the oil pump turning fast enough to lube the engine and keep air moving over the cooling fins from the prop to prevent overheating. Low idle is only checked during the run up operation to make sure the engine will keep running once it warms up, but rpm's are always brought back to 1000rpm.
