July 11, 200520 yr I've noticed a few times that I've had what seemed like a gust of wind push the plane down when I'm about 200 AGL. Sometimes less maybe, but I know it's very close to the TDZ. Tonight after flying a hop, I was landing at Birmingham, Alabama. I wanted some storm activity from Dennis. ;) Well all was fine until about 200 - 300 feet AGL then BAM! It was like someone pushed my plane into the ground and there wasn't time to recover. :( I had been watching for traffic in the low vis conditions, and none were around. I immediately Alt-Tabbed to see what ASV said, and it stated it had just sent a Wake Turbulence Event??Now, I don't mind an occasional gust, shear, or whatever in bad conditions, but this shouldn't happen should it? Are these kinds of non-recoverable events supposed to occur in the ASV engine? Thanks - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
July 11, 200520 yr Author Okay, I was told at the Aeroworx forum that it was the Wake Turbulence, and that people had problems with it, even when aircraft were behind them on final. I don't recall this in 2004.5, but I only had it since February and maybe it was never severe enough to cause a problem. Tonight in ASV, I'd swear there was not any AI anywhere within 15 nm of my plane. I had the TCAS on the whole time into final and even set the ring to 10 just prior to the middle marker. I went ahead and turned off the Wake Turbulence feature for now, but is there any way Damian can set it not to occur at a certain altitude AGL like he did with the VAS? Maybe an adjustable value even? I like this feature on if possible, especially at higher altitudes in cruise and such. Thanks,Chris - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
July 11, 200520 yr Hi Chris,Strange that none of those people posted here or e-mailed us?I understand what you are saying, but please double check for traffic, even at a parallel runway. WT does have a range of about 4 miles.I'll see about the option.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 11, 200520 yr Author Actually it was discussed here back in December. Here's the thread at Aeroworx I posted and a few people mentioned it as well.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&topic_id=14159http://www.aeroworx.com/smf/index.php?topic=873.0It's only happened a few times, but never enough to make me crash like it did last night. Either way, I can't say I had a problem until ASV. If he can work it out like the VAS then cool, if not, no biggie. Thanks,Chris - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
July 12, 200520 yr Hi Chris,Thanks for refreshing my memory from December and for the other thread. I did read through both. I hope you didn't have Increased Wake Effects checked also? Those can be VERY strong.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
