August 8, 200520 yr I may have missed something in the manual but if I create a flight normally with PMDG 737NG, I load the route in the New Route option of ASV and process the route. I then print out the Nav Log so I know what the en-route winds are at my planned flight level and the expected Magnetic Heading. When I fly the route the actual winds at my planned FL are normally 20 - 40 degs out and up to 20 kts speed difference. I get the wind information both from the cockpit display and pressing Shift-Z.Why does the actual wind never match the ASV Flight Log ?Glen Glen
August 8, 200520 yr Hi Glen,It is because AS shows true direction while FS04 shows magnetic direction. Yes, in certain parts of the world there can be a large difference!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
August 8, 200520 yr Author Jim,Thanks for the reply.I normally fly around the UK where the magnetic variation is only about 3 or 4 degs, this is why I can't understand the large differences between ASV and FS2004.Normally if I press Shift-Z, should the wind be the same as the Flight Log (+ or - mag var) at a particular flight level, if so I have a setting wrong somewhere because mine seems way out.I'll try a couple more flights and come back with some figures.Glen Glen
