Losing ATC Text - Box Title Appears, ATC Text Missing

Featured Replies

After a thorough search here and in other forums I believe there may be a problem when using the Level-D 767 or PMDG 747-400 with ASV. Some who have experienced this problem said that the "fix" is to remove the feature that causes the weather to scroll across the screen when requesting an ATIS. I have this feature disabled and still (after a total system rebuild) have the problem. After starting FS9.1 and loading either of the two mentioned aircraft all is well initially. After task-switching to the desktop to "Refresh AI" in ASV I task-switch back to FS9.1 and the ATC text box is empty (ATC is still working, I just can't see the text in the box). When you select the "P" key to pause the simulation a nice red box appears at the lower left of the screen but the text is blank there as well. When next choosing the Top-Down view (CTL-S) aircraft shadows appear white and graphics quality is severely crippled.Has anyone else seen this besides the few others I've stumbled across? I love ASV... there isn't another weather addon as capable and full featured and I absolutely love the way the weather atmosphere comes alive and looks so real. I want to keep using it but the problems are zapping my enthusiasm.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.7)Audigy 2 ZS SoundMS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c

Hi Jim,Thanks for responding! Like you I thought this was purley a video card/driver issue. After the complete computer rebuld, now everything is fresh with all the latest drivers. The problem was not eliminated.I have flown the default C172 quite a few times and cannot get it to happen. I'll try some additional test flights tonight after work and report back. This is indeed a strange issue that seems connected in some way to the LDS767 and PMDG744 when used with ASV. I tried FSMeteo some time ago and did not have the problem.Like I said, I'll do some more testing tonight. Thanks!DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.7)Audigy 2 ZS SoundMS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c

Jim,Testing has completely ruled out ASV as the problem. :) I've been able to repeat the problem without ASV running on a regular basis. There is, however, something with the LDS 767 and PMDG 744 that doesn't like task-switching to the desktop. After 2 hours of testing a variety of situations I have concluded that this does not happen with any of the default aircraft but happens regularly with the two mentioned addons above. My system is high-end Dell equipment completely rebuilt over the weekend. All the drivers are the latest and the hardware (as far as I know) is functioning very well. My 3DMark05 score with this rig is 5783 which appears quite respectable.I will continue searching for the problem.DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.7)Audigy 2 ZS SoundMS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c
