ActiveEnvironment Tips - Please Read!

Recommended Posts

Please take a look at the following tips as many common questions/issues are addressed here!ActiveEnvironment Tips:---------------------------------------------------------------Previous Users of FSW should Uninstall Fs Sky World 2004.Afraid to loose your existant texture or want to back them later? When you install ASV, it will backup your entire FS9Texture folder to Flight Simulator 9ModulesASVActiveEnvironmentFS_Texture_Backup-By default FS9 will not display any AE textures until you submit some via the AE interface or enable ICS or random startup modes. To use the Mip Map and DXT texture conversion options: Download the FS9 Imagetool which is required for this process here: http://simflight.com/users/fsw/files/imagetool/imagetool.zip OrDownload the FS9 Terrain SDK http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...sdk.asp#terrain and install it to a temp folder and copy the imagetool.exe available at Terrain_Toolsimagetool.exe into FS9ModulesASVActiveEnvironment.Before you enable Mip Map or DXT modes, you should download any additional texture resolution set you desire (from http://sales.hifisim.com/ASVE/downloads.htm). This allows all resolution sets to be converted at the same time, keeping things in sync and saving time.By default, Mip Map and DXT modes are disabled in order to reduce the program installer download size. We recommend that you enable Mip Map mode after installation for better FS performance (do this from the AE interface). Once you convert, you will not have to do it again unless you install additional texture sets. DXT mode is optional and might provide better performance on some systems (versus 32-bit mode).ASV/AE startup mode options:ICS + Random Sky/Env - ASV will automatically select appropriate cloud textures (based on wx conditions) and randomly select sky and environment textures.ICS + Last Sky/Env - ASV will automatically select appropriate cloud textures (based on wx conditions) and leave all sky/environment textures as previously selected/submitted. You can then manually change the sky/environment textures or leave them alone. All Random
