October 20, 200520 yr I am getting the same problem as this user was:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=22099&page=1I am suddenly unable to process any flight plans, weather loaded or by manually entering info.Perhaps you could post a public fix for this problem, as I am now at least the second user to experience this issue. Thanks,SKUpdate: It apparently works again if I first allow an entire Refresh cycle, then attempt to process a flight plan once it is finished. Perhaps some waypoint or other data is becoming corrupted if a user cuts a server download off midway by closing ASV?? I sometimes have to do this if I mistakenly hit Refresh, because the download is throttled at such a low rate it takes almost an entire minute to download 370kb worth of wx data.Recommended fixes for future versions:1. Add a CANCEL option to the Refresh function.2. Provide a higher bandwidth throttle setting for wx downloads, or omit the throttle altogether... this thing takes forever now. Thanks,SK
October 20, 200520 yr Hi Steve,1. The public fix is to make sure ASVE is not processing any data.2. Damian has stated that a cancel option is not viable because it will cause corrupt data.3. One minute is not too long to wait for a download. With the number of AS2004.5 and ASVE users all accessing the weather servers at the same time this allows everyone access. This also solves the problem of stutters that SOME users experienced when throttling was not an option. This is all a balancing act and right now the servers are stable and user performance is good.4. If multiple downloads are not an option for you I can suggest that you work in Offline Mode. Then only one single download of one minute long will be needed. Or increase your download interval to 45-60 minutes.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
October 20, 200520 yr Author Thanks.Yeah, the "waiting" issue isn't really with in-flight downloads... only on startup. It's just a really long time to wait when you're running a very fast box on a T1. You get completely spoiled by the speed of everything. Hard to believe I used to use a Commodore64 with a Dattaset and loved every minute of it. :-) Thanks for the info. The primary problem about which I posted did not occur while ASV was doing anythying. It had been sitting there idle for about 5 minutes when I started attempting to process a flight plan. But again, it seemed to clear up once I refreshed. The corrupt data iissue Damian talked about was probably the culprit in my case. Thanks again,SKP.S. Weather around KLAS has been very interesting lately, and ASV Enhanced has made it an absolute dream to fly in and out of the area. Stunning!!
