Lightning in Stratus?

Featured Replies

I saw this yesterday (in AS6 I mean), just a single stratus layer with a few Cumulous clouds above, lightning flashes all over the place. Is lightning generated outside of CB in AS6? On similar note, so far when there have been TS The clouds do not seem to reach very high, most CB clouds would be a great stack a several miles across and 25000 or more high, is that not possible in AS6? (bit framerate hit or something) or do I need a different setting? So far I am using the realism settings reccomended in here with WX influenced autosubmit. On different matter but a frequent topic, is the ovc issue, I was flying across an area that had snow falling, as I approached it you could see the weather front as a horizon to horizon layer of stratus with some cumulous over, Active radar showed the precipitation clearly, yet I was still able to see through the clouds to the ground beneath, easily.

Hi,If the METAR has the proper code then lightning is possible. It is possible if the conditions are right. Was the METAR code OVC? That is the only way for solid cloud decks. Were there nearby stations not reporting OVC?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg
