BlackSquare steam gauge Caravan and King Air updated.
I may be missing something here, but this line WTT Mode autopilot is now integrated natively. No additional packages are required to access all features of the PMS50 GTN 750 any longer. Seems to state that the PMS50 GTN 750 now has all it's features active, yet I am not seeing that, traffic is greyed out along with everything else that was previously so. So what does that line refer to?

A Plea to all Software Developers, big and small..... Please read.
This is such good news! I have been using Alan Constables excellent sound files for some time, but have been experiencing much problems again in that after a reinstall of FSX the sim no longer plays the files, I have tried various paths in the soundai.cfg for different planes with no joy, all I get are the default sounds, it's a real pain. I sorely miss FS hot seat as it was an awesome sound environment, if that could be ressurected for FSX and FS9 users I would pay for it. Meanwhile, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get the sim to stop ignoring the soundai.cfg files I would be most grateful! Kim.

Odd AI behaviour at KOLM
I notice that the AI at Olympia (KOLM) do not always hold short correctly when taxiing to rwy 17, particularly the Beech series (58, 76 etc) they tend to run straight past the hold short point across the runway and get clearance afterwards, odd though, this does not always happen. I looked at the .bgl for KOLM and could find nothing wrong with it so I have no notion as to the reason for this, but figure it worth reporting in case someone else sees the problem. This incidentally is using the recent freeware AI packages made available for the ORBx scenery area's. Kim Gowney

Couple of apparent issues
Avian replied to Avian's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Damian, thanks for the replies, all satisfactory replies too! It's very pleasing to know you guys are working on these things, I'm sure that it will lead to an even better experience with AS. Kim Gowney.

Couple of apparent issues
Using SP2 but these issues have been there earlier than that, I don't know what's at fault, my settings, just FSX or AS. 1. Rain without clouds. The weather will perhaps show scattered clouds with some rain, but the depiction is a very few (i.e.) miles apart) clouds, some cirrus and pouring rain, I can understand how this might be occurring, but is it possible to get the engine to generate a believable amount of cloud when rain is given? it looks pretty odd, chucking it down out of an azure sky. 2. Cirrus depiction. Frequently I see Cirrus tiles doubled up but slightly offset given a double vision effect, most distracting. 3. Distant clouds depicted over nearby clouds. This again very much spoils the effect, especially when you are moving as the distant cloud appears to be the closer as it is covering to closer one, yet the closer one moves more due to the accurate perspective, what causes this? 4. An old chestnut this, different layers (i.e. altitude layers) of cumulus having flat bases, obviously the flat base of a cumulus is at the base of any formation due to it being the temperature point at which the water vapour condenses, all higher clouds will just be irregular shape, I am guessing that a shortfall in the way FSX depicts cloud types is at fault here, if not though, any possibility of limiting the flat base tiles to the cloud base layer and using a more irregular tile above that?

Settings not saved with SP2

Settings not saved with SP2
Avian replied to Avian's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumThanks HiFly, I had a look at that file and it seemed correct, but then I also checked the other three files which are the configs for the various options at start up, VFR etc, as I have been select the VFR option at startup I am now guessing that it defaults to that config but does not write to it when changes are made but writes the changes to the standard file, I had not realised there were other config files and this seems a good explanation for what I am seeing, so not a bug, just a different config loading. Unless of course it SHOULD be writing to those files, in which case it's not working as it ought.

Settings not saved with SP2
Although it seems to be working OK, I am finding that any changes I make in the UI Wx options panel are not persistant, for example the program opens up with Smooth Cloud transitions selected, I wish to change that to DWC and it lets me make the selection as well as telling me to restart the program, but on restarting the option is set back to smooth cloud transitions again, the same with any other changes I make, regardless of my clicking the save and apply button.

Newbie and GA-Traffic
Try this free program ( http://www.voidtools.com/ ) it is called everything, it is far superior to the MS search engine, you let it build it's database on your machine and then search for Traffic, it will find any files or folders you have with Traffic in the name, and as such will discover where your .bgl file ended up, you can the move the .bgl to your scenery/world/scenery folder and also readjust the traffic generator's paths to suit. I do a bit of scenery work for the FS community and find Everything an invaluable resource for finding various files.I am a bit vague on the last bit as I am not certain what GA Traffic is, are you just referring to GA traffic in general, or is it an actual program? I would be interested to know.

So frustrating!
Hi Tallguy, Having read many posts on here about how the program deals with the AI traffic I have decided not to pursue the installation any further, I like my traffic as it is. Thanks for replying and beginning the process of assisting me, I appreciate it, but have decided that the program is not for me.

So frustrating!
I have done everything I can think of and find on the forum here, I am still getting the fatal error message, I find the instructions supplied with this very ambiguous and most unhelpful as regards setting the thing up.First off I have windows 7 64 bit, I have no idea which installer to use (I tried both but the result was the same) as it says if you are installing to vista use this, but does not indicate if that is to differentiate vista from 7 or something else, it would be far better if it was more specific.I have successfully installed voxpop voices and run right through the speech to text setup doing all the training etcI have not registered the program as I am trying to see what it is like during the 7 day trial (an appropriate term if ever there was one) but no joy at all.I am using a Saitek X52 pro HOTAS (I read that someone had a problem with a thrustmaster throttle)For a program costing £45 I am pretty surprised that it has only an unofficial forum, though I do understand it from another viewpoint that the producers could be bogged down by the weight of questions etc, but some kind of troubleshooting FAQ would be handy.I double checked that a flight plan was loaded (the correct one for the first tutorial/test KMCI to Everly)I have been at this for 5 hours, worse than a full reinstall of FSX!I tried manually running the VOXatcserver.exe (As suggested in a different thread on a similar issue, no joy)Any assistance to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

SDK removal
I have now reported this error in the FS developer SDK forum, apologies if it does not belong in here!
-
SDK removal
I have now tried to totally remove all entries in the registry relating to the SDK, this has allowed me to reinstall the original SDK from the basic FSX disk, and SP1a from the Acceleration pack, when I try to install SP2 from the accelration disk it hangs forever on the initial windows installer, I tried copying the sdk.msi file over to a folder and ran it from there where it got most of the way through the install, but again balked with the very same error message, could the acceleration SP2 need other files on the disk papart from the SDK.msi file?

SDK removal
I have been having great difficulty with the SDK upgrade to the SP2 Acceleration version, despite following several tutorials I come up against a problem not mentioned, and that is this error message.Could not open key UKNOWN\components\1FA18F7974E099CD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\BFF381227A8CO47448A7DD2EA724B3FI was able without difficulty to install the SP1a version, but when I tried to install the SP2 version on the Acceleration disk I got this error, thinking to remove the whole SDK and start again, using add remove programs I got the very same error message. I am assuming that this is some registry key, but I have no Idea what it is. How can I bgypass this and at least remove everything to effect a clean install?

Traffic X Question
The AI traffic are more likely to react to you (under the direction of ATC) if you are also taxiing under ATC control, if you are just driving around not using ATC, I have under those circumstances seen th AI act as though you were not there. Yes I have Traffic X AI, but I don't think this is specific to that, more likely it's the ATC engine.

Updating Navdata
Ah, that explains it, I will wait for V5 then, thanks Jim.

Updating Navdata
I have recently added several new afcads (or the equivalent) to FSX through TrafficX, some of which I have edited, specificaly the comms of several UK airfields as they often share the same frequency which can make dealing with ATC a problem, many of these new airfields were in a separate folder to the addon scenery folder and so did not get picked up when I ran the new database function in RC4, so I moved the AFCADS inot the addon scenery/scenery folder and ran it again, but to no avail, (it seems to run through the process very quickly which makes me wonder if it is actually doing it right?) I point to my FSX folder through the dilogue beforhand so it is looking in the right place, but none of the frequncy changes I have made are showing up.Did I miss something?

ADv Display with FSX?
I see, thanks John. Not quite as versatile as AD was, but functional nevertheless. :)

ADv Display with FSX?
I can't seem to get it to work, does it? (I have V 2.14) put the .dll into the FSX modules folder, but nothing shows in sim, I have FSUIPC installed and that shows (Now under an "add on" menu) but no Adv Dis.Did I get something wrong or are we awaiting a newer version?Cheers! :)

Reinstalling AS 6.5
Avian replied to Avian's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumCheers Jim, Proof sent.

Reinstalling AS 6.5
After several years of trouble free use I have to reinstal my OS, I upgraded through AS 4 to 6.5 and as such AS6 in particular looks for a previous install of AS5, not really wishing to install more than I have to, is there a way of installing AS to the latest version (for FS9) without having to go through 5 or six steps, in other words a stand alone AS 6 or 6.5 installer I can download and run?
