Clear to Overcast popping in and out...

Featured Replies

So I seem to be having an issue when I come into large cities. The weather will "pop" (definition- change rapidly back and forth LOL) between clear and a depiction of what I would call haze or low visibility. This will usually cause water color to change textures to be more vibrant and then fade out again and it is a little annoying...I was just wondering what setting could be causing this? Is it the Fog Layer Generation. I am flying into KEWR for example and get it around NYC.Thanks in advance-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0psolksig.jpg

Hi Paul,It's been interesting following your other post this morning and who piped in!What I think you are seeing is the visibility limitations in FS, especially when it crosses the 10sm value and/or the 10k mark. This may happen a bit more in populated areas where there are many weather stations reporting different visibilities. Also, if there are military bases in the area they only report a maximum of 7sm visibility and this can cause the fade in/out of visibility.Try with Fog Generation and FS9 Haze turned on.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Thanks for the help Jim, you guys are great. I had both of those enabled and that was the result I was seeing. I am going to try with Fs9 Haze on and Fog generation off to see if it has any impact. Thanks again for the quick response...Anyone who knows me and follows the forums knows I am not some troll trying to bash anyone but I went to look this morning and was knocked off my seat when I saw the pricing... Does he work for them? It sure seems that way. Serioously when Chris can come up with ASV which revolutionizes FS and Allen can come up with UT which changes half the world and still make it affordable for "most" simmers it just leaves me scratching my head with some developers... What makes them think that their products add so much more value than the rest of the FS market?Seems like there are some others who actually have some worthwhile opinions to contribute as well...Thanks again Jim, best to Chris...-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0psolksig.jpg

Hi Jim,I just wanted to provide a quick update. Sorry for not reporting back sooner but things have been a bit hectic. Didn't need that aggravation from another user in the middle of it, that is for sure. I sent a note to Tom and Ken apologizing for my out of line post... Enough of that!In all seriousness, thanks again for your words in the other post, it meant alot. It is tough for people to understand if they aren't animal lovers themselves...I can swear she is doing KEWR-EGCC with me right now.As for the Overcast popping, it seems to have cleared up significantly by unchecking the Fog Generation option and disabling this feature. One of the things I was thinking of was possibly putting a range suppresion for the Fog Generation. Then maybe the "popping" (people love it when I make up my own definitions LOL) could be suppressed like all other weather changes? Just a thought, I have them from time to time..Thanks again Jim,All the best,-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0psolksig.jpg
