New flying pc on network

Featured Replies

Good morning StaffI've just bought a new pc as my main flying pc. I run ASV6 off a second pc via widefs. Obviously the paths are wrong in the asv6.ini and this will be just one of the things I have to update on the ASV6 installation. Do you have an FAQ answer somewhere to tell me what I need to do, or can you tell me here? Is it a re-install on the asv6 pc or just a modification of a couple of things? If it's a reinstall what files do I need since mine was an upgrade from ASV and many other versions before. Thanks in anticipation (and I really hope this isn't an RTFM answer because I have looked, honestly:-)Paul Croft15 miles north of EGKK

Later ...My impatience got the better of me and, since I had some time to spare, I thought I'd take a chance and uninstall then re-install ASV6. After all, not much could go wrong - could it? Everything seemed to go OK until I tried to run ASG. I now get an error message about an unhandled exception error occurring and: "Process performance counter is disabled, so the requested operation cannot be performed." (The one in the FAQ?) I have .NET framework v2.0 installed. I 'repaired' the installation through Control Panel Add/Remove but that's made no difference. I've gone to .NET Configuration > Applications > Fix an application and asked it to 'fix' the ASG installation and that's made no difference. Not sure where to go now. Your help is now sought and I'll fiddle no more until I hear from you.Paul Croft15 miles north of EGKKP.S. Flying without ASV6 is so boring :-)

Hi Paul,Sorry for the trouble. Try this: uninstall .NET2.0 and reinstall .NET1.1. I am off to work now, but I'll be back later. Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi JimThanks for the suggestion. Sadly that's not worked. Weird problem, totally unexpected. Is something being left behind in the registry perhaps?Paul Croft15 miles north of EGKK

Hi JimThe problem gets worse :-(. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ASv6 and .NET 1.1 and now the ASv6 installation won't 'see' my fs9.exe file on the flying pc. Is this anything to do with the fact that my setup.exe file was an upgrade? I no longer have an earlier version of ASV convenient - it was stored on my last but one pc and that has a hard drive problem right now so I cannot easily restore anything other than my version of ASv6.One other thing you might be able to help with. The laptop's Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs shows I have I have something called ASv6 - Install Unwrapper for ASV/ASVE installed. When I click on this I get the following message: "Can't install! This wrapper REQUIRES that ASV/E be installed ..." I no longer have ASV/E installed. Any suggestions?Paul Croft15 miles north of EGKK

Hi JimThe testing goes on, but I think I'm missing one crucial file. I've located all my backups and a readme file I wrote some time back and I've reinstalled everything as follows: 1. as-wxRE.zip2. HIFI-AS2004_wxre_verification_on_install.zip3. AS20045-b140.zip4. setup.exe dated 21.12.05 and installed into a folder I created and named Install package. If I remember correctly this is the file I got after updating from ASV/E. I do not have the update file I must have got when I bought into ASV/E. As of this moment I cannot locate it. If I need it in order to solve the problem I would welcome your advice. I have the receipt for ASV dated 13/06/05 and can forward the receipt number if necessary.Paul Croft15 miles north of EGKK
