November 28, 200619 yr I was looking through postings regarding the speed of Winds Aloft but I didn't find anything that touched on the limitation of the aloft wind speeds. As with surface winds, can I also limit the speed of the aloft winds or do I just have to disable it? On my flight today from PANC-RCTP, I was 40 min late and the winds were consistently over 100 mph against me! FS only recognizes up to 99 when you do the ctrl+Z function.thanks
November 28, 200619 yr Hi,Thanks for the question! There is no limitation option for those winds so you could turn them off. I am not sure if there is an option in the pay version of FSUIPC to do this. The other thing would be to fly at a different altitude where winds could be less.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
November 28, 200619 yr ... which makes your flight very very very realistic. transpac flights in winter often encounter such winds, and the KLAX-VHHH flights often have to stop over in RKSI or RCTP to refuel. Consider yourself lucky to have such a realistic simulation!!! :)
November 28, 200619 yr It's worth mentioning again that point about FS wind speeds as shown in the Shift-Z function.99 is the maximum number shown even if you are in a 150 knot jet stream. The simulator will however truly refelect the real speed even if it is higher than 99.A 150 knots wind is also not unusual over the Atlantic in the winter months and you will have to allow for it in your planning.
