February 10, 200719 yr I haven't had a great many problems with using AS6.5 in FSX as I'm mostly a fair weather flyer. However, this morning I wanted to take a flight using real-world conditions that were overcast and raining.I know there is an issue with AS6.5 dropping framerates in FSX while weather is loading, but once loaded, periodically I was getting stuttering and flashing of cloud textures for no reason. With Gen-X VFR photoscenery and using TrackIR, I normally get 35-40fps average with normal weather and it drops to around a consistent 22-32fps with overcast conditions. But these stutters and flashes are sporadically reducing the ability to fly to sub-15fps.Any suggestions that you can make to help smooth things out a bit, even if it means reducing the overhead AS6.5 is placing on the machine by turning some features down/off.Thanks,Vox
February 10, 200719 yr Author Bit of an update:With some more tests using various configurations of weather, including MS's own, I found some stuttering to with MS's Jeppesen based weather as well, so I doubt this is directly an AS6.5 problem. Any help to alleviate general weather issues would still be helpful though. Thanks,Vox
February 10, 200719 yr Hi Vox,The flashing textures are part of FSX as you have discovered. We hope that Microsoft is working on this issue and will fix things. At this point there is not much we can do. If it continues we will see what our options are!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
February 10, 200719 yr Author Thanks Jim for the confirmation, appreciated. Is the stuttering a known issue too and related to the flashing textures? Thanks,Vox
February 11, 200719 yr Hi Vox,They may be related, but util the cloud flashing is gone, we are not sure.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
