Using GE Pro with ASv6.5

Featured Replies

I have been using ASv6.5 for awhile now and it is a great add on. I am now considering adding GE Pro. A few questions:1. For those using ASv6.5 is there that much of a noticeable difference in the quality of and realistic appearance of ground (vs. default FS9 textures) and sky textures when adding GE Pro while continuing to use AS weather and AS graphics?2. When adding GE Pro, what needs to be revised in the ASv6.5 "options" to facilitate a smooth integration of the two. Do I check or uncheck the following?- Enable GE Pro submit on new FP- Force Sky-GE Pro checked or ASG checked-which one?- Use fetched station for GE Pro3. Any other AS "options" I need to make sure are checked or unchecked when adding GE Pro, or any changes in the AS online/offline startup techniques? 4. What exactly do "sky texture sets" in GE Pro do relative to AS? I love the sky textures of ASv6.5, and have no idea what effects GE Pro sky texture sets would have on the sky textures I already have with AS. Help/recommendations would be much appreciated. Thx.

Hi cat,Thanks for the questions!1. Yes, I notice a large difference in ground textures. The sky textures are a personal preference.2. Enable GEP Submit on new FP should be On. Then when you start AS and enter your plan, GEP will auto-start and submit textures. You need to decide which program to use for sky textures, so that is what that option is for. Try things both ways!If you never/hardly enter a plan in AS, then you can use a fetched weather station to set textures, so that is what that option is for.3. If you love the sky textures of ASV then use the Force Sky: ASG option. It really just tells which program set to use last so that when FS04 starts, the textures you want are the last installed.Hope this helps!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Jim,Thx. as always for your great support. Appreciate it. Going to buy GE Pro and give it a shot. Will be back if I encounter any issues I can't figure out relative to the integration of both AS and GEP. And I do intend to stick with ASv6.5 for the sky textures. Therefore, is there really any particular reason to take up hard drive space with loading GEP sky texture sets if I intend to only use AS sky textures?

Hi,There are just a few sets and they take up little room, so please install them. The program will not ask if you wish to install them or not. Don't worry, they will not be installed into FS04!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

JimThx for the GE Pro recommendation. What an amazing positive change in the

Hi,When using a flight plan GEP will use an "average" of the weather along the route. The textures may not exactly match with the departing or the destination reports. If you wish to use a specific station for a match, then uncheck the Enable GE Pro Submit on New FP and check the Use Fetched Station for GE Pro.Then use the Fetch a Report Window to fetch a station and force GEP to match that one station.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
