August 29, 200718 yr Hi,Just a little question: seeing the fire disaster happened in Greece just few days ago, I've though if there is the possibility with METAR to specify the kind of "cloudiness" (in this case due by smoke) and to transpose it in the game. As I flew from Athens to see if there was smoke in the air, I saw only clouds (and I guess it wasn't exactly what I saw in TV); I hope you'll understand what I mean! Thanks to all! :-)Vittorio
August 29, 200718 yr Hi,I know what you mean!Yes there are codes for smoke, but FSX cannot do anything with those. However, if the smoke is bad enough to effect the visibility, FSX can show that, in the form of lower visibility.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 29, 200718 yr Author Thanks Jim!I forgot to tell you that I fly with FS9 but I guess the answer would be the same... So do you mean that only way that FS9/FSX has to show smoke is lowering the visibility...Thanks a lot! :)Vittorio
August 30, 200718 yr Hi,Correct, only if the METAR visibility is affected.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 30, 200718 yr What would be a neat addition to the program is a downloading of the fire tfr's and then a simulation of fires within them. I just flew from Washington State to Michigan, and the Idaho panhandle and Western Montana was filled with them (fires and tfr's).Could be a cool future edition (even displaying them on the xgauge) ? A shot of the tfr on a garmin 496 and what it looked like off the wing...http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/177389.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/177390.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
