Active Sky Weather Source

Recommended Posts

Guest N6722c

Is it possible to set the Active Sky weather source to be the same as the Microsoft FSX weather server.(It appears that one can set it already to get Vatsim Weather)While the Active Sky weather servers are undoubtable the best, just as there is a need to keep all Vatsiom Players using the same weather, the same applies to those flying undfer FSX Multiplayer, if they choose to fly in a serious, realistic session.Grated Microsoft weather is not always accurate, but in a Multiplayer game, it is obviously better for all to have the SAME weather, as opposed to the "correct" weather. In an Ideal world, Active sky would have a checkable option to "Use Microsoft Weather when in Multiplayer", and if this is checked, then always use Microsoft weather when it detects that FSX is running in FSX MP mode. ( Suggested addition on next version please).Geoff

Hi,No, and I don't think that Microsoft is going to allow for this. One option is to convince your partners to purchase Active Sky! Then you all connect first and then start up ASX.The other option is to use the Microsoft weather. I am not sure what benefit there would be running the MS data through the ASX program. We do know that there are a few MP problems that MS is working on.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

If Active sky is for FSX, what is the difference beteen FSX getting the weather or Active Sky ?Anyway, yes, it would be nice if EVERYONE had Active Sky, but that may never be the case, even if you has a FREE, very basic version (to get potential purchasers hooked on the product ??? )I assume that there are advantages of running active sky, even with a lower subset of Microsoft Weather.?Are you saying that the Data from the Microsoft Weather servers would not be suitable for Active Sky ?Different players having different weather in a Multiplayer Sesion is a problem -- I was just looking to explore some possible solutions, short of everyone having to purchase Active Sky, or those with Active Sky, being requested to turn it off, when in a MP session.--------------I assume you guys at HiFi have some contacts at Microsoft, at least as far as FSX weather is concerned.Do you know if the significant Differences in the Microsoft weather, compaired with the current Active sky weather, is just a solvable problem with the Microsoft servers ?ie Are occurances of significant weather differences being cause by a BUG on the MS servers, and normally, the two system should have reasonably similar weather ??Geoff

Hi,There is too much information here to share. Right now, the options that are out there are the options we have for MP weather. What the future holds, who knows?? But, at this time there are no plans to hook into the MS weather server. Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
