March 25, 200818 yr Here is the scenerio:I have been using Active Sky X along with Graphic X for some time now on my Vista Business 64 bit PC without any issues. As always, I am looking for ways to get every ounce of available resources available for FSX, so I decided to to install ASX & Graphics X on another PC and network the two.I went through and setup everything as per the documentation:Server: Windows Vista 64 Bit w/ SP1Client: Windows 2003 ServerFSX: Deluxe version with SP2.Active Sky & Graphic X: SP2 installed.I am able to see the server shares from the client.AiTraffic.exe test confirms that Simconnect is working.I start up ASX import my flight plan and I can confirm that the Graphic X textures are copied to the Server (FSX PC).I start up FSX, load my flight and there is no change in the weather, nor do I receive the usual scrolling message saying that weather depiction has started or completed, nor does pressing the 'B' key reset the altimeter change the alitmeter. The radar gauge does seem to show the current weather conditions as per ASX, but looking out the cockpit window it is clear skies.Only thing I can think of is that perhaps Windows Firewall may be blocking something, eventhough port 500 is open. If I disable the windows firewall, I can no longer view the shares on the server from the client. (Would love to resolve this one, as I don't need the windows firewall)To summarize, simconnect seems to be working fine, but Active Sky X is not depicting actual weather. Any ideas on what I may have overlooked. VATSIM: P2 | I1
March 25, 200818 yr Hi,Does ASX recognize your current location in FSX?Edit: It may be because of Server 2003. You may need XP as a minimum OS.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
March 26, 200818 yr Author I did edit the registry keys as per the documentation and when I start ASX, it does not prompt me saying it can't find FSX. Also, I can confirm that it is copying the Graphic X textures, so I don't think it is an issue with WIN2K3. VATSIM: P2 | I1
March 26, 200818 yr Hi,But if ASX requires XP to run, why wouldn't this be a Win2K3 problem?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
March 31, 200818 yr Hi ThereThis sounds exactly like the problem I get only I get the ASX connected and a brief message saying that ASX is starting weather depiction before completing almost immediately.I am running Windows Vista 64 SP1 and wonder whether there is any connection between the two issues.RegardsLufty
