June 12, 200817 yr Not sure what is going wrong. AS always worked well before I installed SP3. Any ideas? A brief look through the posts didn't result in any standouts.FSX SP1, AS SP3, XP SP2. I tried not using TrackIR, still the same. Not sure what is going on. I can open FSX, load a flight, the progress bar gets to 100% and.... CTD. :( No problems with FSX if I don't use AS.
June 13, 200817 yr Hi,Sorry for the problem. No other reports of this so let's see.1. Any error messages in FSX?2. Running in windowed mode or full screen mode?3. Any other programs running with ASX and FSX?4. What are your system specs? Please let us know.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
June 13, 200817 yr Hi Jim,My specs are: Intel Core 2 duo 2.66GHz (E6750), 2 gigs RAM, Nvidia 8800GT (512MB), Windows XP SP2, FSX SP1No other apps installed for FSX. When I built this machine, I didn't go through any of the "tweaks" everyone was doing when FSX first came out. It's a pretty clean install, with SP1 and terrain mesh + aircraft installed. No particular error message, just the FSX has encountered an error and must shut down. It happens right after the progress bar hits 100% before rendering the cockpit/scenery/etc.I have some more information. If I load a flight plan in AS, then manually set up the flight (plane, flight plane, location, etc.) in FSX, it works. No CTDs. However, if I save that very same flight, exit FSX, exit AS, Restart AS, load flight plane, start FSX, load that saved flight, I get the CTD. Basically I can't load any saved flights while using AS it would seem. Otherwise, it seems to behave.
June 13, 200817 yr Hi,Try starting a saved flight without ASX running and see what happens.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
June 13, 200817 yr More data.Start FSX (no AS running), created flight, started sim. O.k. Save flight as temp3. Exit FSX. Restart FSX (no AS running), select load flight->temp3. Works fine. Exit FSX.Start AS, load flight plan. Start FSX, load flight temp3, works fine (a bit unexpected). Save flight as temp4. Exit FSX (AS still running) restart FSX, load temp4, CTD after progress bar reaches 100%. Exit FSX (after restarting automatically), close AS. Run FSX only, load temp4, CTD. Temp4 can not be loaded with or without AS running. Something very strange going on here. I tried loading some old flights that I am pretty sure were not saved with AS running (pre AS SP3), and they load fine. It seems any flights I save while running FSX with AS SP3 get corrupted somehow. Also, it seems that I can not load saved flights that were saved under AS SP2 while running AS SP3.I see no strange behavior with the loading or saving of flights while not running AS, with the exception of trying to load a flight saved while AS was running, which results in a CTD.
June 13, 200817 yr Hi,OK, thanks for your hard work in testing this. Let me try to reproduce this at my end.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
June 21, 200817 yr Hi,Sorry about the delay. I did test this out and I never posted back here. I have no trouble at all and could not get ASX to cause a crash. Please e-mail me a flight with a default plane that causes a crash. Please send it as an attachment. jim(at)hifisim.comThanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 30, 200817 yr Yep - I'm getting this too. Its not every flight but sometimes as 100% is hit system crashes out. I have SP3. No problems if ASX is not running.kurt
August 31, 200817 yr Hi,Please start a new thread next time, thanks! We will need more details about this. If it's not every flight, then it could be many things, some of which are: scenery, AI traffic, excessive heat, etc.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 31, 200817 yr HiIts a new install of FSX with Acceleration sitting on XP Pro with SP3. No issues there - it starts stops and does what it is supposed to do. I have had UTX Europe installed and some free 35m mesh and Scotflight is also installed. All this runs well. No crashes and no issues.Recently bought ASX and AGX. Sometimes when I have flown a flight a flight with ASX active, completed the flight and then started a fresh one as the flight loads - it reaches the 100% mark it freezes and CTD with the usual windows mesaage.I hope this helps.kurt
