July 9, 200817 yr Hi,Today we have alomst clear skies here in Stockholm (ESSA) and below you see the ASX's METAR report that indeed indicates CAVOK but still the graphical conditions for clouds shows broken clouds. Been a while since I studied METAR reports but doesn't CAVOK indicate most of the times very few clouds and great visibility?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190428.jpgAnd here is how this looks in FSXhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190429.jpgAnd finally here is how it looks after closing ASX and letting the default weather engine in FSX do it's stuff instead and to me this looks much better and close to the METAR or am I wrong?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190430.jpgI'm using another 3'rd party cloud set and I have made sure the SkySkape option in ASX is disabled.
July 9, 200817 yr Hi Web,Yes, that was not correct. Next time that happens try a refresh of ASX weather. It didn't even decode correctly in the Text conditions. Are you using B1160?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 9, 200817 yr Author Hi Jim,Yes, I'm using B1160 and I've seen this more than once so it doesn't seem to be just a one-time-only kind of problem and I've also tried to refresh the weather but problem remains.Wonder if this has anything to do with the new 4096 clouds I'm using...but still the graphical conditions shown in ASX should match the METAR regardless what clouds you're using or am I wrong?
July 10, 200817 yr Hi,No, correct. Is it with CAVOK ecah time?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 10, 200817 yr Author Hi Jim,Sorry but can't remember what the METAR has said the other times this has happened but what I do remember is when I have started FSX with ASX and then noticed I have LOTS of clouds in FSX even though there are very few clouds IRL outside my window.
July 10, 200817 yr Hi Web,Just give me the info when you think things are way off, in the future.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 12, 200817 yr Hi Web,If you see this:In ASX try setting the CAVOK Cloud Generation slider to zero and see what happens.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 12, 200817 yr Author Hi Jim!Actually I already tried that last time I had this problem but it didn't change anything but I'll keep it in mind and will try it if/when I see this problem next time. Thanks for always trying to help!
