ASX strggling to talk to FSX

Featured Replies

Hello,My installation of ASX has been very erratic in talking to FSX recently. It connects OK, either though a networked PC or on the FS PC (I tried both configs as a test) but the data being reproduced in FSX is variable. Occasionally it will produce the right conditions, sometimes the right clouds but no winds or pressure differences, etc. But by and large I spend my life flying around in CAVOK conditions with no wind and perhaps a few scattered clouds. That said, the "Depiction Output Active" message seem to be on most of the time.As soon as I exit ASX (but leave FSX running) I suddenly get the conditions that ASX has claimed it's been trying to produce. Sadly they soon revert back to CAVOK as the data is overwritten. I suspect there's some sort of issue with my SimConnect installation. Is anybody able to shed any light on this?FSX+AccelerationSDK1a installed and correctly configured.VATSIM d/ls ONHigh Priority Processes ONVirtual Stations ONEnhanced route coverage ONWind shift routines both OFFFSUIPC 4.3 but just the default install for WideFS and SB4 PTT keys. Many Thanks,Dan.

Hi Dan,We'll see what we can do!1. Turn VATSIM option Off and just use our updates.2. Don't run SB4.3. See if your anti-virus is scanning our data. One way is to turn off AV.4. Make sure that ASX is B1160.5. Try with High Priority Processes set both ways.6. What are your system specs?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi Jim,Thanks for the prompt response (as always). It's just gone midnight here but I'll give those suggestions a go in the morning and get back to you.I'm running a Quad X9650, GeForce8800GTX in SLi, 4Gb RAM - all stock speeds and the OS is Vista 64-bit with a networked laptop (WideFS and SimConnect) running Vista 32-bit. Using AVG 8.0 Free on both machines as the Anti-virus - could well be culprit now you mention it :)Regards,Dan.

Hi Jim,Yes, definitely using B1160 (SP3), patched straight from a clean install of ASX.Just tried your suggestions, specifically: Excluding the HiFi directory from the AV scan (I think I've turned off my AV as well but I'm not sure tbh) and turned off VATSIM downloads. I've tested with High Priority on and off with the same results.I've been flying back and forth between two local airports, both true stations (ie: not ASX virtual stations). Weather depiction at my departure airport (EGNV) is good, winds are somtimes a bit out but clouds and pressure are spot on. As soon as ASX transitions to the next weather station (EGNT) I end up flying in CAVOK with pressure at 29.92/1013 and light winds. The report page has all the correct info for the station (Currently 330@11, 1010mb) but the information is just not getting to FS. I shut down ASX and fire her up again with my aircraft sat where I left it at EGNT. Sure enough ASX loads the reported weather, pressure and clouds. As soon as I fly south into the EGNV zone I'm back in CAVOK (no data). Sometimes it does retain visibility range information. Done this five times with the same results.I'm very puzzled.....Dan.

Yet another post...sorry.Just run ASX on the FS machine and launched it "As Administrator" and had no issues. Looks like it's a permissions issue either with my networked laptop or across the network itself. @!">?$*%^ Vista.....Dan.
