November 15, 200817 yr I had to reinstall fs2004 after reformatting my hard drive(Norton did not stop the virus!)Most addons were then reinstalled, including AS6.5.I am a former army meteorologist, so you can imagine I have high expectations from any weather generator. Happily AS meets them quite well.I am trying to recreate settings that give one a soft horizon. I managed to get these in my previous install. Now it's tricky to get the right combination with AS options, and ASG settings. It may surprise some, but this is critical for me. In the real world, it's extremely rare, at higher altitudes, to see a hard edged horizon. This applies to both oceanic and deep inland locations. Haze is ever present, and it's getting worse as the skies get more polluted. The max vis in AS Options is a major factor in getting soft horizons. I remember in the previous install I had it under 40 miles. That seemed to have worked. Now it's not. Actually it depends; if it's broken clouds, at 15000 the horizon is hazy. In clear weather over the sea, it's hard edged. Same over deserts. So I tried 'coastal' sky themes- again mixed results. I just can't get it right. Then there's the connection with fs itself. If I have max vis of 40 miles in AS options, how does that coexist with fs display settings of maximum sight distance, or clouds drawn distance? Who has priority here?I'd like to hear from others who care about this issue. Maybe they could point me to the right settings combination.Eytan Ornstein
November 16, 200817 yr Hi,There is no connection between the AS visibility options and the options in FS. Maximum sight distance deals with scenery and cloud draw distance is how far out FS draws clouds.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
