Help!! Can't play the videos :(

Featured Replies

I received the Briefing Time cd's today... WOW !!!even on my old/ancient system, she's great! Can't wait to upgrade. However, for some reason I cannot play the videos. I can get anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute on all of them then the computer locks up and I get a "WMPLAYER caused an invalid page fault in module QUARTZ.DLL and also in module WMPUI.DLL. I downloaded version 9 of Windows Media Player and the same thing happens. Also in Real Player :-fume Does anyone know what I can do?System specs.HP Pavilion 6545Celeron 500MHZ (yeah she's slow but I like her(Briefing Time that is, wish I could throw the puter out the back door) :)GeForce 2 MX 100/200265 Meg RamThanks, Darrell

Hi Darrell,I have exactly the same problem and the same error message. Some videos abort after 18 seconds, some after a couple of minutes, but always in the same place for a particular video. I tried playing them on another computer in case my settings were screwed up, but the result was the same.

Darrell,Don't despair! In an excerpt from the B-25 Manual downloaded from Avsim, Bill Rambow writes, "VIDEOS * This folder contains a number of videos and a movie film converted to mpeg1 format. We strongly recommend you use either the Quicktime Player or Real Player program to view these videos. You can download free versions of these programs at their websites. You can try the Windows Media Player, but we have found in beta testing that most users experienced problems running the videos with MP. A few did not, so you can try your luck. Just click on the video file you want to view and it will invoke the program designated on your system as the default mpeg player. Or, you can right click on the file and use the 'Open' or 'Open With' options from the menu. Tip: Based on my personal experience, I would recommend the Quicktime viewer, as it seems to be the most stable and reliable, and installs less annoying junk on your computer. I also like the look of the video it displays."Give this a shot a see if it helps :-zhelpDan Hohmanhttp://www.spottedantelope.com/bwomack/ima...onLogoSmall.gif

Duh!! I forget all about reading that in the manual :-doh I did try with the Realplayer though with same result, but it was an old version, I never liked Real Player and never bothered to upgrade. I guess I'll just have to download quicktime when I get home from work today and hopefully that'll solve my problem...Thx for your helpDarrell

I actually read the manual, too. But that was before the CD came and so I didn't have any videos to look at. This problem is discussed in the main manual, but is not in the Known Issues section. By the time the problem came up the limited RAM of my brain had forgotten this information.I can vouch for the fact that QuickTime works. However, when I right click on the video I do not get an "Open With" option. I have found that dragging the video file into the QuickTime icon works also.
