Repaint Kit

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I was wondering if there was a paint kit available for the BT B-25. I'd like to repaint it to look like one of the Dolittle Raider planes.Although there was no fancy airwork on these planes, the major diffrence was the US insignia which had a red dot in the middle of some of the white stars. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Bill

Hi Bill,AFraid no repaint kit available. But if you look at Rattle's truckload of repaints that seems no problem :+ Are you familiar with DXTBmp and Imagetool ?Btw, the Doolittle raid was performed by B-25B's which are quite different compared to the B-25J of course ( no waist gunner positions/windows, top turret at the aft fuselage, different tail gunner compartiment, early engine exhaust/airscoop, and that's just for starters ( which no doubt are different too)) ;-) It would certainly be possible for you to remove BT's specific texture details and replace with Doolittle raid details but the 'realism' would suffer greatly.I'd say hold on to your flying cap, maybe time willing i'll do a B-25B sooner or later. How's that ;-) best regards,Jan

Hi Jan,Thanks for your response. I was aware of the fact that the Doolittle raiders used B-25B's, however I was unaware of the difference in the physical attributes. As you know this aircraft is the only one out there that comes close to B-25B with such great quality and workmanship. I would love to see you do a B version and I believe it would be well received by the community, however I also know that your time is very valuable. By the way, have I expressed my gratitude to you and MAAM for such an awesome aircraft? How's that for sucking-up. All kidding aside you guys have done an awesome job.I guess I'll hold off on the repaint for a while. I am currently in the process of doing research on the complete Doolittle Raid. My planes are to create scenery of ships off the coast of Japan for a non-hostile Doolittle reenactment in fs9. In reading the forums, back in April of 03 there was someone wanting to do the same thing. I don't know how far they got with the project, but there was talk of someone having a gmax USS Hornet already built. Anyways enough rambling, thanks again for all the quality work you and your team provides us with.Bill

>I'd say hold on to your flying cap, maybe time willing i'll do>a B-25B sooner or later. How's that ;-) Sooner would be better! *grin* (I would think a bunch of us who've found ourselves hooked on B-25's thanks to you guys, would die for a B model!)

After the R4D/DC-3 package has been cleared for take-off i'll start working on a B model 'on the side'. Already have an engine setup with early exhaust/airscoop system. Also a version with all the mid-fuse-top-turret stuff removed( firefighter ). I guess most work will go into the different tail cone. For the Doolittle raider i'll add two broomsticks and replace the Norden with the 'Mark Twain' ( any photo's of it would be highly appreciated ! )And thanks much for the compliments!best regards,Jan

>For the Doolittle raider i'll add two broomsticksPERFECT!!!! LOL! (note: the straw end shouldn't be outside the acft *grin*)

>PERFECT!!!! LOL! (note: the straw end shouldn't be outside the>acft *grin*)Roger. Won't need to cut out the slots in the glass dome either, can just paint them on like the real thing. How's that for simulation ! :-) best regards,Jan

No, i didn't know about this site,Bill, it's very interesting, thanks ! Lots of good details revealed about the Doolittle B-25B's! Even a snapshot of the Mark Twain! But we're gonna have to forget about that, that'll take up too much poly's for sure ! (-: Great link, Bill, thanks again, will come in very handy !best regards,Jan
