As John says: Start | Run | dxdiag...Latest build is DirectX 9.0 (4.09.0000.0900)

if "run" cannot find dxdiag, you can locate it easily enough. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to Program Files. Open the DxDirect folder then Setup. Click on the DX symbol and you can run the tests for each aspect of DX....Sherm

Also, when you run dxdiag (from start/run button) you will see a grey box with tabs along the top...Click on each one and at the bottom of the grey-box you will see 'notes' under that should be the words 'no problems' telling you that all is well in each section.
