problem leaning mixture

Featured Replies

Howdy gents!Recently got into flying this DC-3 again and found a "major" problem :s.I got the IFR mod from the library here and all is working good except the mixture handles.I want to lean the mixture once getting at higher altitudes (want to put them on Auto Lean),but the lever goes straight to Iddle Cut... which ends at total loss of power and i need to stay at lower altitudes (below 10000ft as to my testing). Is this a known thingie or i'm i doing something wrong?Looking forward hearing your input on this :)!Regards,Steven

StevenFS2004, I presume? My IFR panel (which is not official anyway) is not updated for FSX.I wonder whether your sensitivity settings are out of whack? Maybe check those first within your FS settings. You should have no problem using the mixture levers, and in addition you have the automatic autolean option also, of course, as added to that panel, which simulates the real world detents.Let us know. If I need to investigate further for you, I'll be pleased to try to help. I've not heard of your problem before.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

Yup,FS2004.I don't think the sensitivity settings are a problem cause in other aircraft,i can move the handles smooth. And the even more strange thing is that i managed to get them to Auto Lean first.but then while fiddling a bit more, they switched back to rich and i couldn't move them back anymore to Auto Lean.It was Rich or Iddle Cut.So it did work for once, but after that, nothing.I'll check the settings none the less and try it and post back here :).Thnx allready for the help mark!Regards,Steven

StevemDo you have the autolean feature engaged when this happens? I haven't heard of it cutting off as you suggest; but certainly, if you try to pull the levers to idle when the autolean feature is still engaged, you'll see lots of smoke and spluttering but no shutdown!MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

Seems like there is a misunderstanding in the last topic now :).I'll explain what happend from the start to make it easier.Took of and started climbing when at a moment around 11000ft give or take,i started to lose power from my engines and eventually stalled.Gain control back at around 8000ft and then rememberd i had to lean the mixture. So i did this and both levers whent to Auto Lean.I could now start my climb again to 15000ft.Now i wanted to see if i could move the mixture handles more to lean it more. This resulted in the levers moving back to Rich (i was doing this by moving them with the left mouse button). Now again,i lost engine power and wanted to put the mixture back to Auto Lean and here is where the problem started. The wouldn't go into that position. They moved to Iddle(and indeed, engines didn't shut down, but ran on low RPM with a lot of smoke outside).I kept trying to move them back and forth to get them right, but they just wouldn't move to Auto Lean.I even descended back to 8000ft to try,but without luck.Hope this makes the problem a bit more clear.Regards,Steven

I'm still not clear whether you are using my IFR panel with or without the AUTOMIX feature. The original panel was uploaded as DCAMAAM4.ZIP (modded as DCAMAAM5.ZIP). The automix feature, developed in cooperation with Dave Bitzer, was in the file DCAMAAM6.ZIP.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]
