no engine sounds in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi MA'AM I'm enjoying your DC-3 package, but I can't hear any engine sounds under FSX. What am I doing wrong? Cockpit and ATC sounds are okay.ThanksThomas

Which aircraft, Thomas? All of them? Check that your ENGINES slider is not at zero under the FS sounds menu, for a start. All aircraft in our package take their sounds from the R4D-6; that is, they alias to that aircraft. You haven't renamed it in your AIRPLANES folder or anything of that nature, have you? We've not heard of any similar problem, so I suspect the problem is easily fixable. Post again if you don't work it out.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

Hi MarkI'm using the UAL passenger plane. Engine sounds are turned to 100% and work with all the default aircraft.I even copied the R4D-6 sound files into the sound folder of the passenger DC-3, but again, no sounds.I'm hearing everything, the switches, the flaps, even the sound the primer/starter makes, but if the engine starts to run, no sound.Could it have to do something with my standard flight?

Now I am getting confused myself. Fired it all up tonight to check for possible issues, using FSX SP1 (uninstalled Acceleration recently although I'm about to put it back in). Engine sounds no problem in both VC and 2D cockpit. But then... I switched through views, and when I returned to the cockpit, hey presto, no engine sounds. Hmmm.Anyone else seen any similar pattern, please? If you report here, please state FSX, FSX SP1 or FSX Acc. Thanks.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

Hi Mark, et al...Have been doing considerable flying with all the various MAAM DC3 models in FSX SP1 using both VC and 2D and all views. Have never lost those very nice sounds (yet, anyway). As an aside, I enjoy the _m models because they have no yoke in the VC:) Roy Marsh

Using FSX Accelerator and Vista. With the default FSX aircraft I get this problem with all twin engine planes. The engine sound in the cockpit is absent when looking straight ahead, but each engine can be heard when I turned my (virtual) head left or right. Other people have this problem. It's odd. When I look far left, the left engine sounds normal, then as I rotate my head to straight ahead, the sounds fades to zero, and then as I rotate right the right engine sound kicks in.RegardsDoug

Oooops..Neglected to say that I'm using XP.R
