Sad Day
Hi Jan... Thanks for sharing your dilemma and decision. Not easy; but when the fire is gone it is time to move on. Hobbies have life cycles...I dearly loved sailing but after ~15 years the fire was gone. Time to move on. Nontheless, the FS8 and FS9 R4Ds were ahead of their time. Great work!!! All the best to you and may the fire burn brightly in your next endeavor. The community will miss you! Regards Roy

Sad Day
Well folks...I've followed MAAM and their superb Flight Sim aircraft for a number of years. Matter of fact I have the Avenger, the B-25 and the wonderful DC-3/C-47 and still fly them...in FSX. However, I fear something has happened to their aircraft production apparatus, so to speak. Many moons have passed without a product specifically for FSX despite plans and exortations. No yellow trainer, no FSX DC3, etc. So 'tis a sad day for me that I state what has been obvious. If I didn't give a hoot I wouldn't say anything. I would like to turn this trend around some how. If there is anything I can do (realistically), I am volunteering to help reverse the trend. These products are too good to let go without a protest! Hopefully, I won't take too much flak for this post. Roy Marsh

10th Edition R4D/DC-3/C-47 CD and DL Released
Hi Bill...Hope all is well.Just wanted to say that I broke down and re-installed my 10th edition R4D/DC-3/C-47 DL. Had become frustrated waiting for an FSX version and several new goonies have hit the street. These version are excellent in their own various ways but...IMHO the MAAM FS9 version, even as a port-over, remains the best all around R4D/DC-3/C-47 for me. Guess that is a testimonial to the longevity of a quality product.Hope to see an FSX version one day.RegardsRoy Marsh

MAAM-SIM Store
Hi Ahmet...I've tried to reconstruct exactly what I did:Go to the DC-3 cargo texture.bea file and copy r4d_engineparts.bmpThen, go to DC-3 passenger texture.ual and change the name of the r4d_engineparts.bmp file to r4d_engineparts.bmp.bak or whatever you want. Then paste the file r4d_engineparts.bmp from texture.bea into texture.ual.Note that the file from the cargo is newer (11/28/03) than the original file in passenger (2/26/02) which probably explains why it fixes the problems. Now, as to the "shaft" business: After I replaced this single file I believe all the problems were fixed. The space between the prop and the engine was filled too!Hope this explains it better.Roy

MAAM-SIM Store
Hi Bill and Ahmet...If you look closely at the above screen shot you will notice that there is no external exhaust pipe on the port engine. Also, but harder to see, there is a space behind the prop spinner on both engines where a section of the propeller shaft is missing. There may be a couple of other engine parts missing as well. Fortunately these problems are only in the basic passenger DC-3. I noticed these just after purchasing the new "patched for FSX" version a couple weeks ago. An easy way to fix this is to copy/paste the corresponding "engine parts" (or something like that :( ) file from the basic cargo DC-3 into the passenger texture file. Worked for me! Don't forget to back up anything you change until you are sure it's right! That was the only issue I noticed and it's good to have the MAAM DC-3 again in FSX even if it is a port over.RegardsRoy Marsh

MAAM-SIM Goes Native FSX !
Hi Bill and thanks for the lengthy update.Generally, folks do better when they know what's going on.From my military days I remember that periodic situational briefings to the troops helped morale and squished rumors...even if nothing much had changed.I had pretty much given up...Well, alright, guess I'll order the latest DC3/R4D/C47 version. And, await a report on the consolidated/updated BT.Regards :( Roy Marsh

FSX Compability
Greetings,I hear what you are saying and I understand. In fact, I do fly in FSX with all the "fixes". I'm just saddened that I have to wait longer for a MAAM FSX R4D/DC3 :( Oh well...best wishes in the endeavor!!Roy Marsh

BOD calculation
Hi tcc0928...http://www.dcascreenshots.net/dcaforum/vie...=12&t=10488The above link takes you (hopefully) to a specific thread in the DC3 Airways site forum about methods to calculate BOD for the DC3.Much interesting info about DC-3s on the site.:-)

Forward view from R4d
Gee Alky, shift + enter works in my FSX VC (thank goodness). I don't really use the shift backspace command. I have the 2D cockpit commands programmed into buttons on my joystick which makes adjustment MUCH easier.I don't believe you can make these variable adjustments in the aircraft.cfg file although you can adjust the viewpoint in the aircraft.cfg.I'm no guru about these things but I have seen some technical guidance on how to adjust viewpoints. I believe it was on the forum over at http://www.calclassic.com Suggest you go there and search around if you are interested.

Forward view from R4d
Well, shift + enter serves to raise the seat in the virtual cockpit and shift + backspace is supposed to lower it. AND, in the 2D cockpit press CTRL + Q to move the view down and CTRL + SHIFT + Q to move the view up!! You will need to hold these key combinations for a bit because the view changes rather slowly, eh?And so it is in FSX...happy flying!:-)Roy Marsh

MAAM DC3 FSX
Howdy...I believe the fix you are looking for is located on the MAAM site in their DC-3 free area and entitled dc3_fsxacfix.zipThe address is below:http://www.maam.org/flightsim/enhance/dc3_fsxacfix.zipI'm not for sure this will fix your problem, but I think so.Roy

Link From Main Maam Site To Support Forum
Hi Gentlemen...Happy holidays to all.I note the link from the main MAAM site to this forum is inop. If I knew how to fix it I would and not bother you fellers who are busily working on the FSX R4D/DC-3 :( Guess this happened when AvSim upgraded their forum. It's been real quiet here. Hope all is well.Roy Marsh
