Forward view from R4d

I have the instrctions for the DC-3 package for FS9. In there is says that to lower the view (be able to see over the nose) you raise the seat position by hitting shift + enter. This does not seem to work for me in FSX version. Is this a problem in the FSX version or am I juat having a local problem with my installation?None of the Microsoft methods for this problem seem to work either. I can pan down with to the FSX aircraft, the Cub for example, but this doesn't seem to work on the R4D. If there is a new method in the FSX DC-3 version I would like to know what it is? Or is there no solution at all? Appreciate any help you can give me.Bob

I think it's an FSX issue even though the keys for moving the up or down seem to be active in the options. You could watch your heading closely and adjust with your rudder pedals or toe brakes while pushing forward on the stick, this will bring the tail up before you take off, somewhere around 40 knots. Another option would be to bind your W key as in FS9 to Panel (view next) in the options menu. By hitting the W you will cycle through the views till you get to the mini-panel or no panel at all thereby being able to see the runway before take off.

Well, shift + enter serves to raise the seat in the virtual cockpit and shift + backspace is supposed to lower it. AND, in the 2D cockpit press CTRL + Q to move the view down and CTRL + SHIFT + Q to move the view up!! You will need to hold these key combinations for a bit because the view changes rather slowly, eh?And so it is in FSX...happy flying!:-)Roy Marsh

SHIFT + ENTER and SHIFT BACKSPACE don't seem to work in FSX. CTR + Q does, but the trouble is, as soon as you change the view then go back, it reverts to the original view. I guess it would be alright if you just wanted to take off with the adjusted view. I wish I knew what controls the view in the panel.cfg, I've tried changing the figures but I don't see any difference. :(

Gee Alky, shift + enter works in my FSX VC (thank goodness). I don't really use the shift backspace command. I have the 2D cockpit commands programmed into buttons on my joystick which makes adjustment MUCH easier.I don't believe you can make these variable adjustments in the aircraft.cfg file although you can adjust the viewpoint in the aircraft.cfg.I'm no guru about these things but I have seen some technical guidance on how to adjust viewpoints. I believe it was on the forum over at http://www.calclassic.com Suggest you go there and search around if you are interested.
