November 21, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi Bill,I was reading your post regarding October 1st FSX DC3 version download. DO I need to install DC3 2004 CD for the FSX version? I dont have FS9 in my PC any more?AhmetNope! In fact, that was the whole idea behind this release - that it would be stand-alone, easy to install into FSX, and no patching required. The server is still running like molasses in winter, and it's hard to get anything fixed on Sunday, but you may be able to get an order through this morning if you are patient. I made it all the way to the checkout in a test a few minutes ago, but it took some time. It almost felt like the bad old dial-up modem days! Sorry about the inconvenience. Great timing with Christmas coming! Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org

November 21, 201015 yr Author Bill,I downloaded and installed, PERFECT... DC-3 , I really missed. Thanks Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"
November 22, 201015 yr Hi Bill and Ahmet...If you look closely at the above screen shot you will notice that there is no external exhaust pipe on the port engine. Also, but harder to see, there is a space behind the prop spinner on both engines where a section of the propeller shaft is missing. There may be a couple of other engine parts missing as well. Fortunately these problems are only in the basic passenger DC-3. I noticed these just after purchasing the new "patched for FSX" version a couple weeks ago. An easy way to fix this is to copy/paste the corresponding "engine parts" (or something like that :( ) file from the basic cargo DC-3 into the passenger texture file. Worked for me! Don't forget to back up anything you change until you are sure it's right! That was the only issue I noticed and it's good to have the MAAM DC-3 again in FSX even if it is a port over.RegardsRoy Marsh
November 22, 201015 yr Author Hi, Roy.I agree with you it is an excellent airplane, even some parts are missing still fly high in the blue sky. Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"
November 23, 201015 yr Author Roy, "An easy way to fix this is to copy/paste the corresponding "engine parts" (or something like that ) file from the basic cargo DC-3 into the passenger texture file"I tried to find "Shaft" texture in DC-3 Cargo. No luck. Will you please show me which texture I should copy/paste in to Passenger texture file. Thanks Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"
November 24, 201015 yr Hi Ahmet...I've tried to reconstruct exactly what I did:Go to the DC-3 cargo texture.bea file and copy r4d_engineparts.bmpThen, go to DC-3 passenger texture.ual and change the name of the r4d_engineparts.bmp file to r4d_engineparts.bmp.bak or whatever you want. Then paste the file r4d_engineparts.bmp from texture.bea into texture.ual.Note that the file from the cargo is newer (11/28/03) than the original file in passenger (2/26/02) which probably explains why it fixes the problems. Now, as to the "shaft" business: After I replaced this single file I believe all the problems were fixed. The space between the prop and the engine was filled too!Hope this explains it better.Roy
November 24, 201015 yr Author Roy,Thank you very much. I made the copy/paste as you advised. All OK now. Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"
