June 15, 200718 yr Is there a smart way or work around to use ActiveSkyX/Graphics in Multiply? I posted the same question over at HiFi Simulation Software Support. It appears the problem is with Microsoft/FSX.Reason for question, I host with no problem(all is well with ActiveSkyX/Graphics) but my brother(he has ActiveSkyX/Graphics as well) can not join session. After process of elimination to include shut down firewalls, anti-virus, changing aircraft to default, he could join with his computer running ActiveSkyX/Graphics if I only run FSX with FSX weather. Our weather conditions were somewhat different in wind speed & direction. My flt sim computer is connected(hardwired)to a DSL router, his is wireless, our multiply connection shows red -1. Appreciate any and all comments. Thanks! erv Intel Core 2 X6800(3.22), P5W Deluxe, Coolmax 650W, Corsair DII800 4G, two 74G/WD 10,000 drives, ASUS 1900XT/512 Card, CoolMaster TAC-T01, Creative Sound Card, USB Logitech 350 Headset with Mic, Samsung 22 High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.
June 16, 200718 yr Commercial Member The problem lies with all the extra weather stations that activesky adds to fsx when it runs. That's where all that extra weather resolution comes from. FSX sends weather from the host to the clients when they join and there's sadly no option to disable that functionality, a bit of an oversight. The client doesn't have all those extra stations, so it just locks up trying to connect. The only way you'll get it to work is to set clear skies for your flight, wait until your friend joins, then both of you run activesky after that. You may lose your connection if the game decides to synchronize weather between host and clients later in the session though, not sure.I've written to Damian about this as well, suggesting that they provide a multiplayer compatible mode for activesky that only uses the default FSX weather stations and cloud layer limits. Write him and ask for the same thing. It wouldn't be as good as pure activesky, but it would be a ton better than FSX's own "real world weather" which is typically out to lunch in accuracy. If enough of us want it they might decide to provide that in a future patch. It's really too bad that the weather transfer can't be disabled as that would be the simplest solution. It was fantastic flying in multi in fs9 with activesky.Cheers.Mike Mike Johnson - Lotus Simulations
